LBJ

Producer and DJ Jonas Verwijnen (aka LBJ) has been involved in music since childhood. Starting his musical career by playing in several Helsinki based alternative bands and becoming interested in producing electronic music, Jonas' solo project - LBJ began in '98 influenced by many dance pioneers of that time from The Chemical Brothers and Fatboy Slim to labels such as Warp, TCR and of course Botchit.

LBJ's style is a unique mix of live instruments, Finnish vocals, powerful beats and dub breaks, and awesome atmospherics, all combing into a new sound that is refreshingly different from the current London breaks sound.

In the issue 33 of iDJ magazine is an interview with Jonas under the topic "Rising stars of breakbeat".

Jonas is also involved in "The Children Of Dub" (together with DJ Nick Fury), an organization hosting parties and pushing the sound of breakbeat in Finland. LBJ's first live gig was at the Helsinki Street Party 2000, and since then his live and DJ gigs have included venues and clubs in Finland, Belgium , Holland, Russia, Norway and England.

LBJ has also played with DJs including Rennie Pilgrem, Krafty Kuts, Vini (RIP), Jay Cunning, Soto, Chris Carter, Databass, Atomic Hooligan, Freq Nasty, Kraymon, and Iain Taylor.

LBJ provides the lead track "Graffiti Techno" on the Heavy Disco release "Helsinki Breaks Out EP", as well as working on a number of remixes for other Heavy Disco artists.

Strong support from Laurent Garnier, Freq Nasty, Loes Lee and Peter Meneater, DJ Flix, Transformer Man, Mole and Mechanoise.
