Influenced by artists such as Björk and Laurie Anderson, Düsseldorf-based singer and composer BlackNinfea cuts her own compositional path. Experimental rhythms and diverse sound collages meet profound lyrics. She mainly focuses on sound generation, from granular synthesis up to lyrical improvisation. Both her voice and acoustic instruments such as violin, erhu and percussions are integrated into her style. Composition in all its meanings.
BlackNinfea has performed with improvising artists such as Glen Hall, Lawrence Casserley and Jeffrey Morgan. Besides her main project, she has worked in various experimental music & art projects. BlackNinfea, whose real name is Elisabeth Szwarc, studies composition at the Folkwang University in Essen, Germany.

TWILE feat. BLACKNINFEA

Deep bass rhythms, acoustic instruments, glitchy sounds, contemplative melodies and spoken words. The following excerpt from liner notes for Traum-a EP (Autoplate, 2007) sums up some more of Twiles music:
Going beyond standard dubtech, the tracks contain definite and extended harmonic arrangements. The sounds are cinematic, designed to be listened to in seclusion, and the album as a whole is a manifestation of Twiles belief that what is contained in sadness holds the greatest potential for joy. So Twile, as if assuming the role of a therapist, summons the misplaced world of dreams, childhood, and forest to offer a sonorous cure.
At the moment Twile is working on a album featuring BlackNinfea on vocals. At Every Shiny Fish they will perform together, playing the tracks in the pipeline.
Besides his main project, Twile has composed music for various art works.
Twile, whose real name is Jarmo Huhta, is a doctoral student in the Doctoral Program of Music, Theatre and Dance coordinated by Sibelius Academy.
