5 hour chill-out dj / live hybrid concert by Jussi Soro

What?
Musique d'ameublement (aka furniture music) was an early form of ambient music by Eric Satie (1866-1925) that he described as being the sort of music that could be played to create a background atmosphere, rather than serving as the focus of attention. In this event, I'm trying to create a perfect musical background for evening dusk and for people to have a relaxing 5 hours with friends.

Where?
S/V Estelle is a wind powered cargo vessel, located in front of Varvintori, just between Suomen Joutsen and Sigyn. During this summer, Estelle has been transformed into a naphouse by a volunteer organisation named Hauska Perhe. In the deck there are mattresses, pillows, hammocks, all kind of places to relax or take a nap in. The surroundings are perfect for relaxing and watching the sun set behind the city skyline.

How?
There is no entrance fee. You are allowed to bring your own food and beverages on board, except alcohol. You can play board games with your friends or just lay on hammock. As this is a chill-out event, do not disturb fellow partymates. No shouting is allowed. You are free to come and go as the concert is in process, but I recommend you come in early to take the best spots.

Music?
The music played in the concert will be a dj / live hybrid, with samplers, sequencers and CD-decks. PA system will be high end studio quality, so you will be able to enjoy every diminished note and scent of echo that are in the tracks, even though the music is played at an enjoyable volume. Musical styles will vary from ambient to dub, hip-hop, rock - even pop, but always being chilled.

The Venue: S/V ESTELLE

Estelle is a steel-hulled 53-metre ship originally built for North Sea trawl fishing. Before being converted into a Fair Trade vessel, she spent about fifteen years hauling gravel from Vuolahti to Helsinki.

In 1985, Estelle was acquired by Eestaas Ltd and its transformation to a sailing ship began in Turku, in 1986.

Eestaas Ltd is a small, alternative shipping company established in 1985, when Estelle was bought. To date, the owners of Eestaas Ltd have been fair trade organizations, Emmaus groups, and other independent organizations, as well as private people willing to contribute.

The priority of the owners has been above all to equip Estelle to standards that are acceptable for a supply vessel operating on the

On June 2nd, 1997 Estelle was certified as a Finnish merchant vessel. At the same time, she was issued papers on a special-purpose basis (training vessel). Afterwards, she has done campaign and transport work in the Baltic and North seas.

On June 29th, 1999, Estelle was certified for ocean-going traffic, i.e. as seaworthy for all the world's ice-free waters.

Tämän viikon sunnuntaina siis luvassa chillailua, mikäli vain ilmat suosivat. Tällä hetkellä näyttää siltä ettei ainakaan kovaa sadetta pitäisi tulla. Estellen kannesta vain osa on katettua, joten mahdollisia lyhyitä sadekuuroja varten kannattaa ottaa jotain lämmintä päälle.

On ollut todella mielenkiintoista lähteä kasaamaan settiä aivan eri pohjalta kuin normaalille keikalle. Luvassa on melko paljon vanhaa matskua, mutta myös uudempaa ja hiukan härömpää soundia. Kaikenlaista saattaa tulla ja varmaan tuleekin, katsotaan setin edetessä että miten hommassa käy :)
