Diepvries aka Tom Schaek BIO
Being a fanatic Dj and record digger, Diepvries was picked up early 2001 by local promotors in a time when Belgium was infused by Techno and monotomous sounds. It was time for a new direction as people had grown tired of the repetitive beats that have dominated the club scene for longer than anyone cares to remember and where looking back to a more organic sound in order to find the inspiration to move forwards once again.
From disco, italo, electro, boogie and popular 80's dance classic he plays it all as long as it good fun. At the same time Diepvries set up the Flexx shop which tried breath a fresh air in tedious run-of-the-mill record stores. Flexx meant focusing on dance classics, obscure rarities and the best of contemporary dance music. With success as reissues and the demand in vintage music is currently booming the vinyl market.
Diepvries has played on all the main Belgian dance events and festivals (Ten Days Off, Tiga replacement on Pukkelpop..) and more recently abroad at Horse Meat Disco in London and Resepct Is Buring in Paris.
