Earlier this week, it was brought to my attention by my server hosts, that I was continually swallowing up a huge amount of bandwidth (an average of around 15Gb per hour, every hour...with much more when a new show is posted!) and that unless this could be massively curbed, they would move me onto a 'metered' server immediately. At the current rate of use, it would be completely untenable for me to continue with the archives on that basis, so with the help of techy don RNA I've been looking at alternatives to ensure that everyone who wants the get these archives, still can. The main change will be the use of TORRENTS. For those of you not aware, a Torrent is simply a means of downloading a large file by taking chunks of it from other peers, and by doing so you will be freeing up a lot of bandwidth for me, whilst still receiving the same mp3 as you would by grabbing it off my server. The more seeders we have, the quicker the downloads for everyone...so please allow it to seed once you've downloaded the mp3. - at the moment, people are getting faster download speeds from the torrents than they would for a direct download.
Priority mp3 downloading will continue be given to members of the strongarm/elite force mailing list 24-hours ahead of podcasts or bulletin boards....sign up here if you're not a member.
