RED BULL MAIN ARENA:

mra.jpg
MR. A (Voodoo / Kerma, Helsinki)

Today he's promoting his monthly clubnight VooDoo at Kerma, the premiere houseclub in Helsinki, taking the first steps as a producer, playing regularly all over Finland, Scandinavia, Baltic and Europe, making guest appearances in Radio and various other Media. He has played in every major event in Finland including Koneisto Festival, Ministry Of Sound Tour, Sundance Music Festival in Estonia and Dj'd alongside world renown superstars such as Sasha, Danny Howells, Sander Kleinenberg, Desyn Masiello, Omid 16b, Tom 'Superchumbo' Stephan, Rob Di Stefano, Smokin Jo, Phil Perry, Bill Brewster, Kings Of Tomorrow and Dave Clarke to name a few. He was voted 'Dj of the Year' by City-magazine in his hometown of Helsinki in 2002, came as the 4th runner-up in the annual 'Platinum Awards', a web-based poll voted by clubbers.

Future plans lie strongly in producing more music, running his clubnight, more regular slots outside his hometown of Helsinki to around Europe and further, conquering the wild and wonderful world of Electronic Dance Music and just being an all around nice guy. "It's all a big cliché when they say 'Music is an universal language spoken all over the world`, call me old-fashioned but I truly believe in that . It has the power to heal, soothe, and make a difference. The state our World is in at the moment, if I can make a small donation through my Music, it honestly brings a smile on my face. Stop the violence, let the music play. Peace."

EEROVILLE (Meltdown / Citizen Omega, Vaasa)

Eero Salminen (aka dj Willy) has been spinning since 1985. Before meltdown he was active in 7th Sense, a party group which organized underground parties in Finland in the beginning of the 90's. His record-bags contain everything from old skool house, bleep & acid to trance, house, progressive, electro, idm & ambient.. you name it.

Eero has played in every major city in Finland with domestic top dj's and also world class dj's and live-acts as Marcos Lopez, Mijk Van Dijk, Rene (Tresor) and Stretch & Vern.

fierce.jpg
FIERCE (Full-On, Vaasa)

DJ Fierce is one of the pioneers of hard dance in Finland. He started dj:ing in the mid 90's after seeing djs like Elliot Ness playing. Inspired by that, he bought a pair of decks cause he wanted a piece of the action.

Fierce started out as a techno-dj, playing hard funky techno, but after a couple of years he changed his style to hard house which he is still playing. Inspired by the sounds of Ian M, Tony De Vit and clubs like the Trade, Fierce has always had a unique style, mixing funky hard house and nu-nrg. He's known for his technical abilities and attention to detail when mixing.

This man's superb skills on the decks have found him playing in club events such as Full On, House Nation, Club Nation, Säde, Labyrinth -98, Storm and Vertigo alongside foreign jocks like BK, Max the Alien Thing, KGB, Anne Savage, just to name a few.

ALTERNATIVE ROOM:

virta.jpg
VIRTA Live (FAK Records / Definition Records, Helsinki)

During the years 1994 to 1997 a group called virta from the arctic plains of Finland established a solid cult status. Two young friends, using amiga computers and the legendary protracker composition software along with a couple of vintage synthesizers, created monotonic, distorted beats that quickly spread around and even found their way into Germany and Australia. It was only later that they found out their material had inspired many others.

It's 2003 and Virta is back with a vengeance. Michael Diekmann, the original founder of Virta, alongside new member Perttu Lindroos are the men responsible for these ass-kicking beats. Supported by a crackhead called Countryside Bob (real name not known) and his microphone talents, this group has set up an incredibly solid set of irresistible pounding techno. Pure mayhem and 100%-proof floorfilling beats that will make your body groove.

lauri.jpg
LAURI SOINI (404 / laurisoini.com, Helsinki)

The passion for electronic music hit Lauri early in 1990 when he heard house mixes for the first time. Growing up listening these new sounds took him quickly into different techno styles from deep to more intense stuff. At the same time becoming familiar with all kinds of music like jazz & hip hop. Somewhere in the mid-nineties Lauri started to produce his own material and also began DJing.

Today he's been playing at various events all around, thanks to Niitty, Entropy, Hytky, Fiktio, 404 and the rest of the fantastic promoters and organizers in Finland. Apart from performing at clubs and parties his DJ-sets have also been played on YLE Radiomafia.

Lauri's musical style can be shortly described as deep dance music, in terms to mention: House & techno (deep, dubby, jazzy, latin, tribal...) Occasionally he may throw a cool selection of jazz, nu-jazz & bossa tracks. Improving more the versatility of his DJ-sets he always tries to fill in some of his own production, but one thing you can count on when speaking about Lauri's sets, there's always the same exciting but sweet atmospheres, grooves and percussions which have been the biggest enthusiasm for him. Besides his eclectic musical style the venues where he likes to perform vary from cozy lounge rooms and clubs into heavy underground parties and outdoor events.

During the last years Lauri has been honored to warm-up several international names including Oliver Ho, Rob Di Stefano, Thomas Krome, Johan Bacto and Chris Liebing.

CRC (Virta DJ's, Helsinki) & ALKEMIST (HYTKY / X-Rust, Helsinki) B2B With 4 Decks

CRC: Michael Diekmann (aka CRC, Harrison Fnord) found electronic music in the beginning of the 1990s when he was only 14 years old - in 1992 he had already started making his own music using amiga's protracker. He is also the other founder of Virta, a finnish mod-group famous for producing monotonic (and occasionally extremely distorted) technobeats during the years 1994-1997. Nowadays michael produces booty-kicking techno. He's one of the first finnish techno-producers, highly talented and respected as a musician and yeah, he's just warming up!

ALKEMIST: From the influences of underground radio shows, the odd records he bought and those that his friends gave him early on, Alkemist built the foundations for the career he would pursue years later, as the call of cold, yet groovy techno got stronger in him.

For years he would record tapes, watch his friends play and in 1996, he got his first chance on the decks at the infamous and legendary Oranssiklubi. Although brief, that night would change the rest of his life. Now in 2003, having already worked his way through to be part of the tightest techno DJ's in Finland, his influences have only broadened, both musical and stylistic, and more focus has been set to creating and perfecting sets that equally contain influences from hip-hop, modern-day techno, and a bit of jazz.

In 2002, the circle closed, as he was given guest DJ spring residency on the airwaves of the Radiomafia channel, the same one channel where he long ago heard fascinating noises. Freelance work followed, in form of interviews of names such as Chris Liebing, Adam Beyer and Thomas Schumacher. By now having also expanded his his range of playable genres to downtempo, house, electro, breakbeats and hiphop, an expansion has also been set to giving more time to production. In 2003, an EP that he collaborated in, saw daylight on the FAK Records label.

As time has passed, Alkemist, in addition to his native hometown Helsinki, has pretty much toured the whole country, it's capital cities and played most big underground venus and clubs - Club Kerma, Koneisto, Bunker, Cream Helsinki, Beatformers and various Reclaim the Street events to name a few. And through big events he's had his chance in playing alongside such names as Adam Beyer, Thomas Krome, Miss Kittin & The Hacker, Joel Mull and a host of others.

KENTH (Vaasa UG)

Growing up listening to late night radio programs and going to local raves and after-hours got him interested in electronic music. Started playing records and arranging parties around 1994-1995 and has been playing at various events in Vaasa ever since. He has also been arranging local drum & bass events since 1997 with a goal to keep the sound alive, for example the Funk Fusion club nights.

Has lately moved on to an electro/tech house sound but still gets inspired by different kinds of music. He likes to mix the old with the new rather than relying on just the newest or biggest tunes.
