D.RAMIREZ BIOGRAPHY & DISCOGRAPHY:

As a teenager Dean's main interests in life were all things electronic, having a good time and music.  He discovered dance music in the eighties and it came as no surprise that he took to it like a duck to water.  By 1992 he had spent the majority of his weekends in clubs and had managed to raise enough funds to set up a studio in the basement of the hairdressing salon where he was chief stylist.  His first project, Cordial, was responsible for the classic "Candlelight".  From a pressing of only 500 whites, the track became an instant club hit, becoming a firm favourite with DJ's from Pete Tong to Sasha (Pete Tong on hearing the track offered to sign it to FFrr on the spot.  Only the same morning had Dean signed it to 3 Beat Records (who also fought off Deconstruction for the track).  The second track "Hear Me Say" met with similar success becoming Pete Tong's essential new tune as well as updates single of the week.  Following the success of Cordial Dean embarked on a series of EP's under the moniker "Masters Of The Monotonal Groove" of which there were seven releases on the 3 Beat label.

It was when he came across a sample from "Wanna be Startin' Something" by Michael Jackson that The Lisa Marie Experience was born, a household name, and Dean was one half of this famous duo.  Throughout the 90's Dean's career soared with an appearance on Top of the Pops performing their no 5 hit Keep On Jumpin and with a string of successful remixes for many major artists.  It was throughout the 90's when he also embarked upon his DJ career.
With the successes of his productions in 1995 Dean travelled the world, DJ-ing from Toronto with the Gatecrasher Sound System to Hong Kong on a memorable New Years' Eve 1999.  Dean has played almost all of the top clubs up and down the country with residencies at Rise, the Leadmill in 1997 and various others.  Recently Dean played alongside his friend and most respected producer Tom Stephan at his Chumbomundo night at Turnmills.
It was in the late 90's that Dean, bored of corporate house music, decided to put a bit of acid house mentality back into his tunes.  His style changed somewhat, and, with a fresh identity and a change of direction, Dean started to utilise his productions for Choo Choo recordings.  His first remix was for Deccicio, a track called Spectrum which went on to be featured on the Guy Ornadel, Big Room, "Slinky" compilation.  He also worked alongside his friend and label manager  Rob Roar, with a remix for Arman Van Buren's "Gimmik" project, "Free" with plays from all the major DJ's and a number one club chart placement.  Dean also worked alongside
Allister Whitehead as the "Blackheadz" with the first release on Allister's Sporting label being received with much acclaim and was featured on the Ministry front cover mount CD, mixed by Tom Stephan.

Dean continued working alongside Choo Choo records, completing a string of remixes. Upon collaborating with label owner Barry Gilbey on the Fingerfest Inc. project, the track Auto Porno was created.  This track, featuring a remix from Dean himself was instantly signed to Yoshitoshi recordings when a CD was passed to Ali Dubfire while Deep Dish were playing at Renaissance.  The UK release of Auto Porno received much acclaim including five plays from Seb Fontaine, plays from Pete Tong, Papa; in fact everyone played it and loved it.  The track was also featured on the Deep Dish in Moscow Global Underground compilation.  It was at this point that Dean was signed as an artist to Choo Choo recordings, with his first release being "Burnin' Up".  Major DJ's, from Express 2 to Steve Lawler caned this tribal twisted slice of house music.

Dean teamed up again with Rob Roar and Mr Pink for their Max Linen project to remix the already massive "Soulshaker". This tune had already been Pete Tong's Essential New Tune in its original version and Upon hearing Dean's remix, Tong's comment was... "absolutely amazing".  The next week, Dean's remix was to become Tong's Essential New Tune. The same week it became Jules' tried and tested, Seb Fontaines' VIP, Floor Filler Number One, cool cuts no 1 and no 1 in the Buzz chart.  It was at this point that the big remix offers started to pour in and Dean was to spend the next few months away from his own productions.
Dean was then to embark on a string of remixes for the likes of Fluential, Global Cuts, Inferno, Illustrious, Duty Free, Ministry, Switch, Tommy Boy, Junior/Fuju, Phonetic etc (see attached discography). Many of which were to feature heavily in the boxes of all the big DJs firmly establishing him as one of today's most "up and coming" producers.
His next single for Choo Choo Records, "Bounce Your DJ" received much acclaim, it was hammered by everyone including DeepDish, Seb Fontaine, Fergie, Saeed and Palash, Paul Woolford, Tom Stephan(to name a few) and went on to become favourites with DJ Magazine, (5 out of 5 sureplayer) single of the month in M8 and top 5 in the Mixmag house chart. Due to Choo Choo's heavy release schedule, Dean found he simply couldn't put out the amount of records (under his different guises) that he wanted. He realised he needed an avenue for his many productions and it was simply a matter of setting up his own label, thus Vudu was born, a label that would house D's twisted, tribal sounds. He also wanted the freedom to collaborate with his some of his favourite producers and also to utilise some of their original productions fuelling the sound of Vudu.

Vudu, went on to become one of the most anticipated labels with each release being equally large and exciting as the last. Vudu had releases from Cuba 2 (Dean Marriott and Ian C),Rambo (D.Ramirez and Tom Stephan),D.Ramirez himself, Rick Pier O'Neil and Tony Thomas vs Deepgroove. D.Ramirez presents Venus and Mars "You Can't Handle This" went on to become Seb Fontaine's Vip tune of the week and was featured heavily on Pete Tong's essential selection with three consecutive plays and a feature on his essential mix, live from Centrofly in New York. Pete also licensed the track to his French Fashion TV compilation and it featured in the mixmag big tunes for 2003.
More remixes to come for Arthrob, Whoop, Illustrious, Release, Tommy Boy, Kingsize and Peace Division, plus a new label for D.Ramirez called Slave, the first release being the eagerly anticipated "Freaque On" featuring Pete Simpson.

DJ wise, Dean has just completed a stint in Ibiza playing at the newest venue Pin Up (on the terrace and down stairs) to 2500 people and has just been made semi resident at the new night in Leeds called Resident at the mint club, ex home of Back 2 Basics.
