The importance of this is that AOL will use Internet Explorer for their browser for the next 7 years, and the Web world worries that Netscape and the Mozilla browser (both owned by AOL) will die, leaving IE with a real monopoly more... People noticed, in a chat buried deep in the Microsoft site, an announcement that "IE will continue to evolve, but there will be no future standalone installations. IE6 SP1 is the final standalone installation". If you want a better version of IE, you better upgrade your operating system.
