Dave Joy Biography
A household name in the hard trance scene, in his time DJing Dave Joy has accomplished a large, ever growing list of achievements which should ensure his longevity for many years to come. In addition, his production, remixing and record label work have contributed a great deal to the hard trance community over the past decade.
Daves main project is his company Joyride Music, which since its launch in February 2006 has amassed three main labels: Joyride Recordings, Thrust Groove Records and Doof Doof Traxx. His strong ear and dedication towards the music he plays has also led him consult deals for other labels, with Troxx Records, Phoenix Recordings and the world-renowned Hard Kandy imprint in Australia all collaborating with him.
Joyride Music itself has signed many productions world-wide and Dave has built up strong relationships with both producers and djs from various countries, sourcing material from Australia, United Kingdom, Japan, Spain and Germany. Top hard trance names like Sean Tyas, Substate, Chris & Matt Kidd, Synthetic, Nick The Kid & Louk, D-Light, Nish, Ralph Novell and DJ Sequence have all released and/or remixed tracks for the Joyride imprint.
Dave isnt a newcomer to production, with releases under the Dave Joy name being an amalgamation between Dave and his partner/engineer David Prodygee (owner of MoonmanProductions). As well as the smash First Impression there have been many successful collaborations with other artists under different names, including Emphasysts, 4Fach Zoom, Schattenmann, Basic Dawn and Simplex DSN. Productions for other artists like Final + Sylas and V-Tek have been championed by some of the worlds leading DJs and gained massive radio play world-wide.
The multitude of productions has given Dave the opportunity to remix some massive, well respected names in the scene, such as Jam X + De Leon aka DuMonde, Alphazone, Nish, DJ Spoke, DJ Dean, Dave 202 and DJ Shogs Mindhunters, to name a few. The most successful to date was the remix of Flashback by Alphazone, which was licensed from Waterworld (Germany) to Nukleuz and is now being re-released on Joyride Music at the end of 2006. When Dave was asked to mix volumes 2426 of the Hard Trance X-Plosion series, three massive compilations followed.
As a DJ, Dave has travelled extensively, playing at some of the worlds leading venues and events. These have included the prestigious Defqon One (Holland), Nature One (Germany), Streetparade & Oxa (Zurich, Switzerland), Tuned, Launch, PHD & 3D (Melbourne, Australia), Sounds on Sunay & Plastic (Sydney, Australia), Rise (Perth, Australia), Tunnel Club (Hamburg, Germany) as well as many gigs in the UK, inlcuding Colours and Hue at The Fridge (London), Eyecon at Dance Academy (Plymouth), Bionic (Cardiff) and Atmosphere (Seaton). After seeing out the New Year in China, 2006 has seen him tour South Africa as well as return to Australia and the UK several times.
Daves professionalism is renowned, for he does not let his accomplishments affect his personality, staying the same down to earth person he was when he got his first big break at a local club in Switzerland. He has a strong love for Australia, supporting local djs and producers with all his heart and effort while on tour. He can not be faulted for is his huge dedication towards up and coming artists, proving that as a DJ hell never forget his roots.
