PROGRESSION - 'REFLECTIONS'

house, progressive, trance

"Ladies & Gentlemen,

This latest mix: "Reflections" is exactly that. I have compiled some of the tunes I have frequently played during Autumn 2007. A 'Reflection' of my style and my tastes.

Once again the aim is not to put together a promo mix of the absolute latest tunes. I often find that 'trying' to just play totally upfront stuff in a mix doesn't necessarily work for me. In this there is a mixture of older, recent and a few unreleased tracks. This blend allows me to really work the mix.

Beginning at 129bpm 'Reflections' kicks-off with progressive house and builds over two hours to reach the faster paced Trancier side.

I seem to get the best buzz out of DJ'ing when i have to start from Progressive House and rise all the way up to the more melodic Progressive Trance: 135-136bpm (Not too fast stuff though! :)

With just a few weeks of 2007 left, I hope that everyone has a great Christmas and a drunken NYE. Download, listen, and enjoy this uplifting Reflective musical journey... :)

Cheers: Progression."

......the first 6 tunes are right up my Ally!

I guessed that these rocked your boat: :)

Liquid - Sweet Harmony (Dave Spoon & James Talk Remix)
Gat Decor - Passion (Heikki L & Mr.A Remix)
Adam K. & Soha - Twighlight

I just *sydän* that Sweet Harmony Remix by Dave Spoon & James Talk.

...The piano line still sounds so original! Genius! I loved the original on XL recordings back in 1991 (which the Spoon/Talk directly samples). Then came a Happy Hardcore bootleg on Naughtee Naughtee vol.3 in 1994. Then was a nifty mashup that came on a one sided vinyl named: 'Liquid - Do You Want Me' in 1999! *piis*

It's good that the mix can at least cheer people up...

I always keep my style uplifting. I do like some deeper progressive too but find the more melodic and string influenced tunes take my fancy! So, expect more in the future!

Thanks for listening :)

Yet another quality mix! This time with a bit brighter sound which is definitely welcome in present winter darkness.

Adam Nickey feat. Tiff Lacey - Letting Go (Dub Mix)

It's amazing how simple melodies can be so ear catching like in this tune. *plur* *jiihaa*

Keep up the good sound *joo*

Nice set. First half (from Liquid to Leonid Rudenko) was full of great tunes and nice mixing. Highlights for me were Passion, Ultra and Twilight and of course Magenta. The other half was a bit boring for me, too much of the same a bit dull trance sound that they produce these days.

Somehow the sound quality was a bit odd. Especially last five or so songs sounded somehow strange, like something was missing from middle and high sounds. I don't know if the problem was caused by my system, eq or mp3 compression. But nevertheless quite nice set and I'll listen the first half again.

Thanks for the listen...

The Progressive Trance and more full on Trance during the latter stages of the mix are pretty uplifting of drivin'. The Schossow remix of Genix and the mashup of SvD's King of my castle vs. Nic Chagall's Borderline do it for me! They are bangin :) I have tried and tested them over a few sets and the response is always great. Polish producer: Adam Nickey is a man who hasn't trodden wrong for ages (if at all...!). One word to describe his productions: Beautiful.... "Letting Go" (dub mix) caught my ear a while back and it was a tune that just had to go on this mix! A personal favourite!

There will be more to come in 2008... Cheers :)

You just picked out some of my favourites there too! Massive tunes. In some ways they will still be top notch in a few years time too!

The other half was a bit boring for me, too much of the same a bit dull trance sound that they produce these days.

It seems that you are definitely more into House and Progressive House to me. The Trancier sounds didn't do much for you. I guess that is the beauty of all these electronic genres. People have the pick. To find a style that sounds good to themselves!

Do bare in mind though that this set was similar to a set that i played out. My aim within the set was to bridge the gap between slower House and get people movin' to some Prog Trance... within 2hrs.

With the topic of Trance... That's a difficult topic for me these days. I hunt hard to find decent stuff. I end up finding the more progressive side of Trance that appeals to me. I try and blend together euphoric sounds (Adam Nickey, David forbes etc...) with bangin' stuff (Chagall, SvD, Schossow etc...). That often allows me to tease the crowd... Give moments of "Kiksu sormi" with moments of pumpin' bass and rolling B-lines to loose oneself to :)

Somehow the sound quality was a bit odd. Especially last five or so songs sounded somehow strange, like something was missing from middle and high sounds. I don't know if the problem was caused by my system, eq or mp3 compression. But nevertheless quite nice set and I'll listen the first half again.

It could be that the sound is a bit lower in the last 30% of the mix. I tapped the Master down a little. I didn't spend much time at all sifting through the mix and touching it up. Just did the basics.

Glad you found things in there you liked! Thanks for your comments and I hope you have a good Christmas and NYE.

First half was really good. About 60-70 min -> was a bit too "cheesy" for me. :)

Glad you enjoyed the first 60% of the mix :)

The latter stages were more Trancy. And the latter stages included more vocals. Vocals are something i don't play so much in my more House-Prog and slower Prog-Trance tunes. However, i feel that vocals fit into Trance quite well. I'm not sure what 'Cheesy' is to many people. Trance is supposed to be euphoric, uplifting, happy, instrumental, with synths and often, as i said, with vocals.

Adam Nickey a.k.a Kai Del Noi (PL) and DJ Shah (DE) (Global Experience) are amongst the cream of the crop producers in Prog-Trance / Trance at the moment. They produce such balearic sounds and some original fresh belting stuff. That's why they have both been snapped up this year by major record labels. But each sound to their own. Everyone has their own emotions towards music :)

Kiitos. and kiitos again for the listen. Progression.
