That friendly face behind the counter at Record Time Shop is one of Motown's most respected and beloved DJs. Spinning a top-drawer mix of house and techno, Huckaby always gives the people what they want: a right party.
He is the kind of guy who believes that slow and steady wins the race - spending more then a decade working at this infamous Record Time shop. A lover of deep techno, jazz and house, Huckaby launched two labels Deep Transportation and Synth, and has devoted himself to learning new technologies, including Native Instrument's Reaktor program.
Mike Huckaby is mostly known for his recordings on Harmonie Park, under the 'Deep Transportation' title. Mike has been working on different production projects with artists such as Moodymann, Theo Parrish, Rick Wilhite, Cris Simmonds to name a few...
Recently he has delivered amazing mixes for "Deep Chord" and "In The Dark"/Detroit Beatdown alongisde Marcellus Pittman, Rick "The Godson" Wilhite, Delano Smith, Keith Worthy, Malik Alston and others.This is a small example of how much music and cultural activity thrives in Detroit. All the artists involved in this project are essential creators and perpetuators of the musical heritage of the motor city
Nowadays Mike Huckaby is presenting his weekly monday radio show on Cjma in Detroit with regular guest djs and he is teaching Reaktor to school kids in Detroit. "This is absolutely a dream come true. It's definitely the most exciting thing i look forward to all week. Special thanks to Jeffrey Horton from Native Instruments for that."

"There is no way in hell i could have told you that i would be teaching reaktor. 2-3 years ago i was still drooling over the box .. or behind the shelves. See, dreams do come true, and hard work does pay off. The trick is to stay focused when your stressed, tired, frustrated, or broke. Thats hard to do, but you will see some amazing results.
I also have a terrible addiction for expensive synthesizers. I am a Synth freak and the biggest Reaktor friend there is !
I am in the midst of a complete transformation. I am slowly but surely about to stop consuming all commercially branded products, in favor of all biodegradeable products that dont harm the earth or me ! If you knew what was up, you'd be doing the same.
Hippie and organic culture is whats up. Maybe not as an outwardly appearance for me, but otherwise yes."
