SLACKER
As a DJ and producer Shem McCauley AKA Slacker continues to be on the cutting edge, with a reach far beyond most of his contemporaries, a history spanning numerous musical genres and a diverse checklist of fans throughout the business.
A DJ for over 16 years, the words "been there, done that!" spring to mind. Originally known as DJ Streets Ahead, Shem was one of the pioneers of the UK Hip Hop scratch scene, playing alongside the likes of Tim Westwood and picking up production and remix credits beside James Brown, Roxanne Shante and Public Enemy. As a student in Brighton, England, he established various sound systems DJing alongside fellow South Coast boys Norman Cook and Carl Cox. Production success followed first as Nation 12 with "Listen to the Drummer", and then after setting up stall with musician and producer Simon Rogers as Ramp, with the singles "Rock the Discotek" and "Stomp". Both became international club classics. Shem and Simon also remixed over 80 records during this period, for artists as diverse as Sister Sledge, Armand Van Helden, Lightening Seeds, Quivver and Boy George.
On the crest of this wave, Slacker established a live show and heavy touring alongside label mates The Prodigy ensued. It was while touring that Shem rediscovered his love of Djing, and in 1998 he hit the road properly again. He has been criss-crossing the globe ever since. In this time he has enjoyed residencies at Groovejet in Miami, Orbit in Lima, Peru, Slinky in Bournemouth and Fierce in Hong Kong, earnings platinum helpings of air miles throughout the world, especially across the U.S and Asia.
Jukebox In The Sky continues to go from strength to strength with the recent launch of a comprehensive website and webshop. This year has already seen numerous Slacker original tracks causing dancefloor havoc, including breakbeat monster "Goddam Noize/Tutikinegi", and white label "Clifftop Love/Accident Chic". JBOX009 is the first non Slacker signing to the label, featuring the vocals and production talent of rising DJ star Natalia Data. Entitled "The V.I.P" it has just been release. Jukebox has also signed Steiger's "Cha Cha" single, and Shem has completed a storming Slacker remix of this which will be available in November.
Currently Shem is back on the road and covering the globe with more than ever to offer. Slacker? Far from it!

(Progressive-Sounds.com, Proton Radio)
Chloé Harris was immersed in music as a child and stared working in record
shops from the age of 14. Eventually she started working for Groovetech, an
online record store and radio station in her hometown of Seattle. Here she
launched her first radio show, Further, which proved very popular with tons
of regular listeners. When Groovetech Radio closed in 2002, Proton Radio
took the opportunity to snap her up and she used this as an opportunity to showcase
some of the stranger music she enjoys at home. B-Sides is based on the idea
of doing something different and exploring unsual sounds.
Chloé also produces a regular mini-mix for progressive-sounds.com, as well
as record reviews and interviews for the same site. The upfront nature of
these mixes and the website attracted the attention of the Balance Record
Pool, of which she has been a member since 2004.
In March 2004, John Digweed asked her to do a guest mix for his weekly KISS
100 radio show. This led to a slot at Bedrock's 6th birthday in London, and
a repeat performance the following summer at Herbal. This, along with a
residency at one of Canada's top club nights, Focus at The Lotus Sound
Lounge in Vancouver, has helped raise her international profile, with
regular gigs all over the world.
Chloé has been honing her production skills and should be unleashing some
tunes very soon. As with her dj sets, her own music doesn't fit well inside
one genre, but has bits of electro, house, progressive and techno. She's on
her way to a bright future in music.
