MISS JAREA BIO:
Born in Warsaw, Poland on August 2 in 1977, Magdalena Katarzyna Lipska and her family moved to Norway, shortly after her 7th birthday. Ever since she was born, she felt an urge to be the center of attention. With a knack for music, she has been singing from the day she first opened her mouth, keeping her parents awake at night. Music and curiosity has always taken a prominent role in her daily routine. Attending all singing contests and talent nights she could find and imitating Madonna and Samantha Fox in front of the other kids in the neighbourhood didn't really give the satisfaction she dreamt about. However, at the age of 15, she got a degree in Aerobics Instruction. Jumping around on a good beat while being the centre of attention is what appealed to her most about it. Only a year later, she was confronted with electronic music for the first time in her life. Prodigy and Westbam were among the artists that started her on a journey that, later in life, would get her around the world. Her first step to harder music was a Josh Wink performance at BCM Mallorca. The big change in her life came when she attended her first rave: XS To The Rave Zone. Being a bit sceptical at first, she ended up dancing with her eyes closed, lost in the hypnotic sounds of music that would change her life forever.
First interest in spinning
In 1997 Magdalena met Norway's renowned Drum 'n Bass DJ Goldfinger. For the first time she became interested in actually spinning herself. It wasn't really the technique, or working with records that fascinated her, but the fact that one could entertain a crowd with something that comes directly from the heart, giving people the time of their lives while totally dominating them at the same time. Two years later a local artist manager involved her in a project with DJ Eskimo, as a dancer during his live performances. Her experience as an Aerobics instructor, along with her breakdancing skills, made Magdalena rock the crowd. The undiscribable feeling of the cheering audience got her hooked on performing, and soon she became the project's vocalist. After attending numerous parties all across Norway, she figured out that dancing didn't give her enough saisfaction and so she decided to spin proffessionally. While working on her DJ skills, she invested in a set of Technics SL1210's and run off to London for some serious shopping. She returned to Norway with a big TidyTrax labelled Bag filled with the hottest Hardstyle and NuNrg records, most of them not even out yet. All she needed now was a name. Jarea, pronounced Jah-re-a, is a character from a role-playing game that Magdalena used to play. Jarea is in a way a fantasy mirror image of Magdalena: She's reflecting her devotion to doing what she believes in, despite obstacles and disappointments, and she would never give up on her goals.
First gig
Not long after that, Miss Jarea got her first gig. Late July 2000, Club ID's resident DJ Puregroove invited her to spin. Although being a little bit nervous, the gig went down nicely. After a couple of records, the nerves wore off and she was jumping behind the decks. Her performance moved the crowd and she was demanded back to spin again. Her style was much harder than anything played in Norway at that time, so she was mostly invited for the late hours. Also Wonderland, mid-Norway's best Dance oriented afterparties started to invite her over and shortly after, Miss Jarea found herself playing on Norway's finest gigs, such as Sundance, Milk Club, Trance Nation's Le Club, Resurrection and even Hyperstate, which was later called Biblos. With weekly broadcastings on reknowned web radio's such as PureDJ.com, international gigs, a professional recording studio and releases on international labels, Miss Jarea is one of Norways leading DJ's. She has also been voted for Scandinavias Nr.1 DJ 2003 on Megamind.dk.
Style definition
Miss Jarea's style definition would rather be described as a smooth, full on cocktail of UK Hard Trance, Hard House and Nu-NRG, topped with a collection of Dutch and German Trance/HardTrance and Techno, played purely out of passion. She lives for the music: "no bigger thrill than adrenaline raging through my veins from making people go frenzy-mental on the dance floor and screaming for more. Music is like kaos and order, and kaos is what makes me wild".
Productions and releases
On the production side, Magdalena has proven to be able to put her thoughts to recording. In 2001 she released the project Call Me Poison, together with DJ Eskimo, through CNR/Indisc. Also her remix of Tell Me did really well. In 2004, a co-production with RBA/Carnal producer 'Mad' Dan Brinslee resulted in the Soul Commander EP, which played on BBC Radio 1 (UK) by Judge Jules and released on UK label Shock. With an urge for solo productions and an overflow of inspiration, Jarea invested in a professional recording studio later that year. The first results are a dark Techno anthem and a wild Acid based vocal track, which are released on Carnal Records (NL) early 2005. Additionally, international labels such as Nukleuz and Tidy Trax have shown interest in her work.
Kremlin residency
In 2005, Amsterdam's renowned superclub Kremlin launched their plans for a worldtour and contacted Miss Jarea to feature as their Scandinavian resident. Alongside the likes of Don Diablo and James Holden, Jarea secures her status and profile in the international music industry. She has already played in countries such as Holland, Germany, Luxembourg, Egypt, USA, Canada and the UK, and worked for internationally well respected promoters Q-Dance and ID&T.
Dressed up in wicked latex and cyber outfits, it's the funky way she moves and the banging tunes she plays that make her move any crowd presented to her. So be on the lookout for this wicked cyberwarrior, as she is bound to conquer the world.

JAYWINK SHORT BIO:
Jaywink found his interests in electronic music in the early 90's through the likes of The Orb, Prodigy and 808 State. He played his first club gig in Oulu around the year 2000 with a set consisting of club house. Soon through various phases and movements between styles he found broken beat & breakbeat, the sounds that brought him into electronic music in the first place.
At the end of 2002 he moved to Helsinki and joined the Children of Dub (http://www.basspace.org) as their resident dj. Jay has also been promoting his own nights Smash! and Bass Heroes at various venues. Proudest moments include the Koneisto festival of 2003 and playing for crowds in the finest clubs of St. Petersburg on several occasions.
Depending on the mood of the venue Jay's sets will be anything from full-on bass heavy breaks, the hardest drum'n'bass or more down tempo broken beats. One thing is for sure - there will be bass and there will be lots of it.
