This month at Motion we're proud to present Justin 'Timberlake' Owen a.k.a. DATABASS, head honcho of top breaks label Freakaboom and all round nice guy. On this, his second visit to sunny Suomi, expect a rip-roaring selection of ridiculous tunes that make you wanna dance
like a loon, ably supported by Helsinki's own paha pojat NICK FURY and LBJ. Breaks - it's the next big thing, don't ya know?

DATABASS BIOGRAPHY

Justin Owen has been writing, producing, remixing, recording and releasing Breakbeat since the mid nineties. Before the invention of accepted names for this sound, which is currently setting venues alight across the planet, he was hearing them in his head. When no more than just a handful of established labels were releasing Breaks, he was putting out his own 12's. By pure coincidence - and of course, through a love of the broken beat, he has been there
since pretty much the beginning.

Breaks has come along way since then and in that time he has recorded and remixed under several names - most prominently the Databass moniker under which he has released several 12's, and consistently remixed for other labels. He has also been responsible for establishing and running the label Freakaboom which has grown
from a small, outfield Breaks label to become one of the most respected and consistently cutting edge imprints to come out of the UK.

This has led to the release of the debut Freakaboom Double CD Compilation 'Boomtronics' which is on sale now. The CD's feature 25 exclusive tunes from every artist the label has worked with over the last two years including Koma + Bones, 2Sinners, Kraymon, Phantom Beats, Switchshift, Junk Magnet, Subtropic, Burufunk and more.

Coming from a diverse musical background, his introduction to DJ'ing came from both the early days of Rave and Techno and the Hip Hop and Electro scene of the late eighties. For this reason he has taken on board a number of musical styles and is still just as happy playing Breaks from across the board, anywhere, to anyone at any time.

Touring to promote the Boomtronics Compilation he has played along side some of the UK's most respected Breaks DJ's in most of the top Breaks nights across the country. He also has regular dates across Europe as a headliner in his own right where he can be heard playing everything from deeper, funky, tech-influenced Breaks to full-tilt bass monsters as the situation and the crowd requires. He is
currently in the process of lining up tours of North America, Asia and Australia and will continue his mission of spreading the vibe and pushing the boundaries of this thing we call Breakbeat.
