Svenson
Cosmicman
Dallas Superstar Dj
Well, what do you want to know about Svenson? He started playing drums when he was 12 years old at his hometown St-Niklaas. Back then he already was a huge fan of Depeche Mode. Lets call this Svenson's first true love. A bit later he got his first drum computer and synthesizer. He was ready to make songs and dreamt of his own complete state of the art studio, but hey, youve got to start from scratch, as all djs have to do. He found all those knobs really fascinating and soon he made his first tracks.
It wasnt till his 18th birthday that he played in a band called Mea Culpa, they were a strange combination of musicians with all our very different influences. One of their major achievements was reaching the semi finals of Humos Rock Rally. Thats how he got discovered by Geert Blanchart (former Belgian Champion Shorttrack). He heard them playing live and afterwards introduced Svenson to a good friend of his, Oliver Adams (Lords Of Acid, Praga Khan, ...) Oliver was very interested and gave Svenson the opportunity to work with him in his studio. Thats how Svenson taught a lot of the technical things of producing records. At this studio he made tracks for L.A. Style, Charlie Lownoise & Mental Theo,... Later Oliver introduced him to Roland Beelen from the record company Antler Subway, where he signed his first fixed contract. Thats where Svenson met Johan Gielen. Their first production together Bodyheat Gonna make You feel was a club-hit in Holland. As seemed later, a successful partnership was born. Because Johan was already an excellent DJ back then, he got the opportunity to go and play in Japan's most popular club Velfare. Thats how Svenson started his first solo track under the name Svenson. The first release under that name was Let me take you on a trip . Later that year he produced some tracks for Milk Inc., which scored a couple of big hits in France. After Johans Japanese adventure they decided to continue making music together under the name Airscape. Pacific Melody and lEsperanza have become classics under that name.
More and more they focused on the English market. Thats how they got to do remixes for Boy George, Chicane, Praga Khan, Dario G, Vanessa Mae, Safri Duo, Tiësto,... Their biggest Remix-hit up till now is without doubt Delerium Feat. Sarah McLachlan Silence... They also made a couple of tracks for the hit project Alice DJ whereof the single The lonely one. After Svenson's contract with Antler Subway he decided to go on as a freelance producer, they got in contact with Dick De Groot from ID&T and their first co-operation was a huge success: Svenson & Gielen The Beauty of Silence. Twisted became the biggest Svenson & Gielen hit so far. They both received a Golden record for that.
After years of co-operation with Johan Gielen, they decided that it was time for both of them to do some things solo. This doesnt mean that they stopped their collaboration, theyre still close friends and it will remain that way, it just seemed to be interesting and inspiring to do some solo projects. Thats how the idea arose to make a couple of new Svenson tracks. First solo release with ID&T was Svenson Sunlight Theory. It became Theme From Trance Energy 2004 and it was a big top 20 hit in Holland.
