Kristian Jabs also known as Pessimist, a Bristolian Drum & Bass producer and one third of Ruffhouse, one of the vanguard groups of modern Drum and Bass music. Transcending that genre but maintaining a commitment to the dark and deep side of electronic music, Pessimist explores a new level of progression into minimalist techno-influenced sounds that defy classification.
The Bristol native saw his first release age eighteen and draws on his city’s rich musical heritage during production, touching on trip-hop, the big beat era, and modern techno.
Pessimist has played gigs throughout the UK and Europe, including Fabric, Cable & Corsica Studios. Releases have received heavy airplay on Radio 1, BBC 6 Music as well as on RINSE FM, where his group Ruffhouse were invited to broadcast a guest mix. Tracks have also received support from tastemakers such as Tom Ravenscroft and prominent contemporaries such as Loxy and Dbridge.
Pessimist's sound pairs vast low-end frequencies with esoteric sample-based electronic production and is set to create waves within the European electronic music scene.
