Heatbeat biography

Just four short years ago, a DJ/Producer duo named Heatbeat was born out of the ranks of Argentina. But, within such a short time of coming together, the world wouldn’t be ready for the shockwaves created by the pair’s cutting-edge productions and fresh, live DJ performances. Their versatility spans to include both their newest tracks as well as mash-ups and bootlegs of current hits, which they concoct in their studio during extensive, pre-set preparation. Backed by long-standing experience with traditional instruments like the piano, guitar and drums, today, their résumé of international acclaim and support is longer than most would care to read. One would only need to look in the proverbial record bins of the world’s top DJs to find their “big-room” tracks waiting for the next packed venue, like the hunter waiting to spring on his prey. DJs like Paul van Dyk, Armin van Buuren, Tiesto, Markus Schulz, and Ferry Corsten, among many others, are no strangers to playing Heatbeat’s tunes day in and day out. Now, these young-bloods from Buenos Aires, Agustin Servente being only 23, and Matias Faint, 24, have set their fervent sights to only one .. Greatness. “[They] bring together influences from various genres in the form of a very explosive cocktail mix.” Working on Armin van buuren’s label “Armada” , Heatbeat are one of the most based trance duos in the scene. "Skinnerbox share their leftfiled, jazzy attitude, their style that‘s genre bridging and defying at the same time. Futuristic, funky, lunatic, playful, cute, sweet and ballsy – just when you think you can put your finger on it, they swing a left turn and you can‘t help but nodd your head with a smile on your face: yes, this still exists!

People´s natural curiosity pointed towards these two guys with a vintage analog synth and bad haircuts playing in the park had led them to start perform their music in several small venues in Berlin, attracting more and more attention due to their completely improvised and live played uplifting show.

As for 2011, Skinnerbox are proud to be one of the year's signings of the well known berlin based label "BPitch Control".

Skinnerbox are also the makers of the "sbx 2049", a virtual drum machine software, officially released by Ableton in June 2010 and thus are the first artists to release their own self made - branded Ableton-live instrument.

All these distinct details can be heard on their various releases from the last years, but far better in their live sets. Skinnerbox are an experience, taking you on expedition full of soul, breaking house, hard-edged techno-jazz and ambient electronica futurism.

For 2012 - their brand new and third BPC release, the 4-track digital EP God Is Fading is out now. As if it were the most natural thing in the world and for Skinnerbox, perhaps it is Olaf and Iftah combine marvellous driving house beats and bass lines, prickly percussion, sparkling synth arpeggios and weirdly playful souvenirs of silent films into epic electronica artworks that strike an equal balance of catchiness and originality. Skinnerbox left behind simple dance floor functionality long ago. All four, previously released tracks on "God Is Fading" are pure cerebral cinema with a dramatic plot and a final twist!"
