LCS was, and still is, Finland's only British run electronic music organisation that fills a niche audio experience by offering a different perspective of music and perceptions from our UK backgrounds. Over the past 6 years we have held over 40 events across numerous major Finnish cities.

DARREN DRAKE (UK) Audiotherapy™

"Darren has been immersed in the world of DJ'ing, and in the house-music scene as a whole, for almost 20 years now. As a lifelong devotee of Depeche Mode, and an avid fan of other early synth-based bands, such as "Propaganda", "The Human League" and "New Order", it takes no stretch of the imagination to see how Darren came to be involved so heavily within the culture that surrounds house music.

The catalyst for Darren's love of all things progressive would be ignited on his first visit to the world famous "Kelly's" nightclub, in Northern Ireland. It was during his visit, in 1992, that Darren would first hear the seminal club track "Song Of Life", by the world renowned pioneers of progressive house music, "Leftfield". For Darren, it was, to coin a phrase, a moment that will be treasured, and to this very day he cites the track as his favourite piece of music of all time, regardless of genre.

With the seeds of progressive-house having been so thoroughly sown, Darren embarked upon a musical journey, a journey which, to date, has lasted two decades.

In the early to mid 90's, Darren was hugely influenced by the cream of progressive house DJ's such as Sasha, John Digweed, Dave Seaman, Vertigo, Ian Ossia and Nigel Dawson. It was the amazing levels of technicality, and sheer talent required by these heavyweights to perfectly sequence progressive-house music that completely enthralled Darren's imagination. Coupled with this selection of DJ influences, Darren was hugely fanatical of the output from record labels as diverse as Stress, Cleveland City, Whoop, UMM and Perfecto.

By the turn of the century Darren's label influences would be focused on works from the likes of Forensic Records, Sumsonic, and of course Renaissance. DJ's such as Anthony Pappa, Lee Burridge, Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren and James Zabiela were now effecting a huge influence on Darren's work, yet throughout all these years one constant always remained, that being progressive house.

In 2005 Darren's technical abilities, devotion to his chosen genre, and his almost encyclopaedic knowledge of house music, earned him the position of resident DJ for a new radio show. That radio show was none other than the "Therapy Sessions". This radio show was an outlet for artists and DJ's attached to the "Audiotherapy™" label - a label ran by the now legendary Dave Seaman. Not only was Darren the resident DJ for the show, but his talent for spotting quality led to artists such as Dubfunk and Jay Lumen to have their recordings released on the label, alongside musical heavyweights such as Infusion, Stellios Vassiloudis, and Charlie May.

Fast forward to today, and we find Darren not only continuing to develop and expand his DJ career, but also in pastures new. Darren has recently been spending more and more time in the recording studio, honing his skills and ideas with artists as diverse as the Grammy award winner Morgan King, and up-an-coming superstar Reuben Keeney.

Darren's never ebbing devotion to his chosen genre are on display for all to witness, each and every time he crafts one of his technically outstanding DJ sets. From vast and stunning ambient soundscapes, via multi-layered, bassline-driven, tech-house tracks, through to the more anthemic and uplifting progressive and tech floor-fillers, Darren's focus has always been, and will always be, to share the beauty of the true progressive house experience."

Ladies & Gents,

Thanks to all of you who turned up to celebrate LCS's "6th Birthday" at Klubi on Friday 16th November. Despite a little bit of a slow start, we kept the tempo going and partied hard until the very end. Sometimes it can be a little bit hard to compete with all these Pikku Joulu's around this time of year.

A HUGE thanks goes to our two guest DJ's: DARREN DRAKE and LAURA K who played magnificent sets! Fantastic track selections from start to finish! Another HUGE thanks also goes out to each and every person who has supported LCS along the years. Without you lot, we wouldn't be here still.

Finally, a further 'CHEERS' goes to all the LCS crew and additional people who have helped with the promotion, setup, and execution of this '6th BIRTHDAY' event. You know who you are!
