HiFi Sean Interview:
Hi Sean!
-Hey Antti!
It´s so good to finally have you back! Bears On Board a year ago was fantastic -
we made history together - the cruise being the first official gay cruise around the
Helsinki Archipelago. Anyone who hasn´t been on the cruise yet - any tips how
to survive on the open sea?
- You need lots of 'seamen' to help you but apart from that I think what they call 'sea legs' which I have to say I do not have - my legs are firmly on terranova although that cruise changed my fear of travelling on boats and I adored every minute of that and cannot wait to do it again.
How has your year been so far?
-It has ben a crazy full on year, what with Jan/Feb touring Australia which rained for about 3 weeks but my music brought them some needed sunshine. And then later party of year; a 4 week tour of USA and Canada which I am in the middle of now which has been amazing. The reactions to my sounds have been very fulfilling especially in towns where people 'expect' you to conform to what they think is the popular genre in clubs but to have something new seems to be what they really want to hear.
How many residencies you have at the moment, how to they differ from each other, and can you say which one is your favourite?
- In London it's Beyond and Orange, and further afield things like Bearracuda, Bear Necessity etc.
I play many different parties but I play the music I love at all of them, and never compromise just to fit into what is usually expected. Play what you love and your love of what you play will win them over .
Danceteria is all about embracing equality - for me the best parties are always mixed, gays, straight, all together in unison. How do you see this from your perspective?
- 100% the way forward, house music has no boundaries - so neither should the people who listen and dance to it . Never has been and never will be, it is what brings people together.
If you were to pick your favourite all-star DJ lineup, venue, city and the set-up, how would it be?
- HARD !!! But lets try the Sound Factory NYC; early 90's Junior Vasquez doing an afterhours early morning set.
You´re married to a fantastic husband for years now. Any final words for the bigoted, right-wing, extremist homophobic republicans and other´s who are denying the rights to equality for everyone?
- Well as a man married to a woman for years and also to a man , love holds no prejudice and neither should anyone else.
Thanks and see you in the booth!
- Cannot wait , let the music play!
