Launched in 1997 by Helmut Geier (otherwise known as DJ Hell), International Deejay Gigolo Records` has since been known as one of the hottest record labels worldwide for electronic music. With a sharp eye for new talent and natural professionalism and experience in the music business, Gigolo Records have made their mark.
Today there are around 80 artists involved with Gigolo and growing.
Gigolo is the meeting place of established artists and talented newcomers' worldwide. Gigolo has been working with some of the most promising artists in the music scene from Fischerspooner, Tuxedomoon, Miss Kitten & The Hacker, Tiga, Psychonauts, to Jeff Mills and Dave Clarke amongst others. After establishing Gigolo Records, Hell set about contacting many of the artists he'd met during his years of deejaying all over the globe and offered them a deal. Gigolo went on to produce hits like Jeff Mills ''Shifty Disco EP, Christopher Just's 'I'm A Disco Dancer`, Miss Kittin & The Hacker's '1982' from the 'Champagne!' EP, and most notably Zombie Nation's 'Kernkraft 400 (no. 2 in UK top ten) all proving to be a major success. Like Warp and Soma, Gigolo is one of the few only essential techno and electronic labels to emerge in the nineties, however Gigolo has taken one step further, creating it's own trademark. Gigolo is a mixture of modern retro, flashy, trashy, glamour and sex. Wherever Hell plays, be it Japan or Berlin or Barcelona or London the crowd seems to follow his tastes.
But while producing a number of acts he still maintained his own career as a DJ sticking to the eccentric style he started off with. He's been voted as one of the most wanted DJ`s in electronic music. Hell has taken part in all Love Parades, Tribal Gatherings and contributed to various projects like Radio One's `John Peel Session` being the first German electronic producer to do so.
And while Hell continues to produce and DJ, his ambitions don't end there... from creating the show music for Kostas Murkudis during Paris fashion, cooperations with Donatella Versace, shootings with Karl Lagerfeld, an own book `The Great Gigolo Swindle`, to a Levis jacket, designed by Hell.
