►►► MUSIC ARTISTS
Merv Pepler and Joie Hinton met as drummer and keyboard player for Ozric Tentacles, a long-standing psychedelic space rock band. Although Ozric Tentacles incorporated elements of electronic music, Pepler and Hinton were drawn towards the rave-oriented dance music. The duo toured in parallel with Ozric Tentacles for several years until 1994, when they left the band to pursue Eat Static full-time. In 2008 Pepler stated that he would continue to perform and produce under the Eat Static name as a solo project.
►Texas Faggott, released by Australian Psy-Harmonics label in 1999, is the first commercially successful Suomisaundi record. The album was also likely to have been among the first to create interest within the traditional trance crowd.
The popularity of Texas Faggott grew amongst the Finnish trance scene with their second release, Petoman's Peflett in 2001. Group member Tim Thick has been an active promoter of Finnish psy-trance, as he established and operated Thixx'n'Dixx (http://thixxndixx.stc.cx/) in 2000, a site offering free MP3 downloads from almost all of the existing Finnish psy-trance artists including tracks from his own groups.
► Koneveljet was formed in 1996, originally the band was an ambient side project to the Finnish "techno-jazz" group Rinneradio. The band soon found themselves adding more rhythmic elements to their music and nowadays Koneveljet have proven to be a definite floor filler on their gigs in Finland and abroad. Their energetic clubsets include music ranging from trance to big beat and are spiced with generous helpings of tongue in cheek humour, they even include an aerobic workout in their performance!
► SHIWA 2000 is a Suomisoundi-style psychedelic trance group from Finland. Only regular member left in this legendary group from Finland is Rick Timebees.
Music of Shiwa 2000 was regularly heard as background and theme music of ATV television channel, a former cable TV channel.
