- DBRIDGE -

A veteran producer and one of the most experienced artists in drum & bass, Darren White aka dBridge is an artist whose multiple transformations and evolutions glide through a staggering list of achievements. Over the course of a long and distinguished career, he has been at the heart of some the most exciting collaborative partnerships drum & bass has ever seen from Future Forces to Bad Company, Club Autonomic and most recently Heart Drive.

dBridge has also devoted a large amount of focus to his label Exit Records with the Mosaic compilations, multiple ground breaking singles, and artist LPs as he continues to be a mentor to the new breed of producers inspired by his career. As a solo artist, dBridge remains versatile with his own productions for Exit, Metalheadz, Reinforced, Hotflush, and more.
Although his love of music dates back much farther, Darren’s career began in earnest in 1992 when he moved to London to make music with and produce for his brother Steve (himself a successful solo artist and front-man for the group ‘Spacek’). Catching the buzz of the nascent rave scene along with his brother, he ventured out to club nights such as Roast at the Astoria and drew inspiration from the deep dubby tones of the Jah Shaka soundsystem. Darren soon found himself working with UK hardcore group Armshouse Crew, the production posse responsible for Lennie De Ice’s proto-jungle anthem ‘We are IE’ and began to master the synths and samplers that were the source of this new sound.

In 1995 he linked with the Trouble on Vinyl camp, who released his first solo production as dBridge, ‘Bring Da Flava b/w Keep it Real.’ It was here, amongst like- minds and contemporaries, that he met fellow producer Jason Maldini and the pair went on to form Future Forces. Their early productions stood apart from rest and so a new imprint, Renegade Hardware, was established to cater for the tougher, grittier sounds they were creating. A steady string of releases followed, including the classics ‘Dead by Dawn’ and ‘Triton’.

Combining forces with two equally divisive producers, Fresh and Vegas, the scene-defining Bad Company solidified dBridge’s next chapter. Creating a myriad of anthems that to this day will be heard played (and rewound) any number of times at any D&B night, in any city around the globe (‘Planet Dust,’ ‘Hornet,’ ‘The Nine’), in BC’s 5+ years of working together, they redefined dance -floor Drum and Bass. The notorious supergroup created tracks – and 3 full-length albums – that will remain drum & bass epitomes, tracks that will forever line the chapters of D&B history notes.

In 2003, dBridge opened a new chapter with the first release on his own label Exit Records. ‘Libra b/w The Bride’ was soon followed by more solo outings, across a string of high profile labels including Soul:r, Creative Source, Liquid V and Metalheadz. More than just a platform for his own music, Exit Records is the fruition of a lifetime goal for Darren and has developed to encompass styles beyond strictly drum & bass. Exit Records is a label that is constantly providing music with integrity and longevity, and cementing its reputation as a label with the strictest quality control with every release. Since 2014, Exit Records has become a fully independent label, providing their own pressing and distribution.

As for DJing, dBridge is now proven to be one of the most important and innovative DJ’s in not just the Drum and Bass scene, but the electronic music circuit. He hosted a monthly residency at Rinse FM; a series called ‘The Aptitude Show”, and in clubs has been headlining popular Exit Records nights around the UK and Europe, as well as regular sets at Fabric, breaking new ground by playing at Berlin’s home for techno, the legendary Berghain club and securing a bimonthly Berlin residency at Watergate, ....and of course not forgetting his tours of clubs and festivals around the world, including Japan, the USA, Australia & New Zealand. He has forged a relationship with Red Bull Music Academy, lecturing and teaching for them in both Tokyo and Seattle. For the last 5 years, Exit Records’ musical direction and artist stable has become the main focus for dBridge’s DJ sets.

Since 2014, dBridge has teamed up with Kid Drama and released the Heart Drive podcasts, reminiscent of the Autonomic layers. He has seen a release on Ninja Tune in the form of a remix for Machine Drum, and further releases on his new subsidiary label ‘Pleasure District’, under the dBridge moniker as well as the Heart Drive collaboration. His Velvit alias for house and techno has also seen a release, being picked up by Dusky who released an EP on their label 17 steps.
Constantly exploring the potential and boundaries of drum & bass music and staying several steps ahead of the rest, it seems inevitable that he will eternally remain one of the leading lights in independent underground music.

- STRAY -

London based producer Stray made his first mark on the drum & bass scene back in 2009. Known predominantly for a more stripped back sound, he's since shown an ability to work within a remarkable variety of styles whilst keeping a distinctive quality to his music.

The wide range of influential labels who have released Stray's music over the past few years reflects the diversity of his output - be it the sparse keys of his Exit Records debut 'Pushed' or the relentless dancefloor jungle workout of the recently released 'Ginseng Smash' on Critical Music.
A comparatively modest catalogue of releases and DJ mixes displays Stray's considered approach to his involvement in the scene - his ethos of quality over quantity apparent since his very first release on the esteemed Critical Music imprint.

The first collaborations with Sabre and Halogenix were a natural progression due to the trio's shared interest not only in each other's works but also in a specific and considered production ethos and sonic goal. With the initial sessions sparking the well-received tracks 'Askari', 'St.Clair' and 'Oblique', the three went on to form Ivy Lab and have been busy in the studio together ever since. Their first full EP, entitled 'Missing Persons' was released on Critical Music in 2014.

Stray is also continuing to work on his own solo output, with his 'Matchsticks' EP and the 'Chatterbox' EP both having been released recently on Exit Records. Both records showcase the producer's ability to slow things down and write at different tempos whilst retaining his signature sound. With this new material gaining support from the likes of Annie Mac, Gilles Peterson, Mark Pritchard, DJ Friction, Rockwell, Machinedrum and Om Unit, it's clear that Stray's music is beginning to appeal more and more to the wider electronic music scene.

- SP:MC -

Making the breakthrough into the world of the drum & bass MC is no small task, yet SP:MC has managed to establish himself as one of the busiest & most innovative on the circuit. Host of choice for the likes of Friction, dBridge and many more, his distinctive yet versatile style has also made him a favourite with top dubstep DJs such as Youngsta, Skream and Benga.
This multi skilled individual has also proved to be a talented producer in his own right with releases on Tempa, Shogun and Exit (as Code 3, with Jubei & Dakuan). Winner of the ‘Best MC’ category at the DnB Arena Awards in 2011, SP:MC is without doubt at the top of his chosen profession.

SP:MC’s first break came after MC GQ heard one of his early mixtapes with DJ Jubei and made them residents at his own monthly Emcee Sessions event at Dingwalls in Camden. Following that and as the MC of choice for Friction and dBridge he established close ties with Shogun Audio and Exit Records/Autonomic respectively. Throughout his career he has also represented for labels as diverse as Renegade Hardware, Commercial Suicide, Hospital, Prototype, Bassbin, Good Looking, Metalheadz, Valve, Quarantine, Digital Soundboy, Symmetry, Soul:R, Innerground, DNAudio, Tempa & 3024.
Versatility & quality control are a guarantee when SP’s in the building. He cites MC GQ, Dynamite & Conrad as early influences. After multiple nominations at awards ceremonies throughout the early years of his career, including the Knowledge awards as well as BBC 1xtra and DNB Arena awards, SP:MC nally won the well deserved ‘best MC’ award at the DNB Arena awards in 2011.

If a diary bulging with gigs wasn’t enough, SP:MC began to produce tracks in 2005. Collaborations with Breakage set the standard, and after releasing his monstrous Dubstep track ‘Trust Nobody’, on the infamous Tempa imprint to widespread acclaim in 2008, 2009 brought forth ‘Code 3’ - a Drum and Bass trio consisting of long time friends SP, Jubei & Dakuan, and their debut 12” for Friction’s Shogun Ltd. Since 2009 SP:MC released 3 more highly rated and supported Dubstep 12”s on Tempa Recordings, 2 of these in collaboration with long me friend and fellow MC LX:One, as well as a collaboration with Youngsta for Kryptic Minds ‘Osiris’ imprint. Code 3 have had further releases for dBridge’s ‘Exit Records’ and Kasra’s ‘Critical Recordings’. SP:MC also provided guest vocals for a landmark tune on Icicle’s debut album for Shogun Audio. ‘Dreadnaught’ proved immensely popular and once again cemented SP:MC’s unique style.

2013 see’s this multi talented artist balancing his consistently hectic MC’ing schedule with perhaps his most substantial release to date, the ‘Declassified’ EP for Tempa which also features another collaboration with Youngsta. To add to a great year for SP:MC, he has yet another talent as part of his repertoire with DJ sets now being offered for selected events.
Innovative Drum and Bass & Dubstep MC, Producer, & now DJ, SP:MC is consistently leading the charge in each of his chosen musical expressions.
