WIDENSKI
A resident-DJ for Ministry Of Sound and Defected In The House events in Estonia & a face for Casio G-Shock watches in 2011 - 2015!

Estonia is the hub of the Baltic house music scene and DJ Widenski is one its major players. Tallin–born Andrius Videnski grew up with music from a very young age. A classically trained singer and pianist, in 1996 he discovered the joy of house music and this sealed his fate. Three months later he bought his first 12inch (which he still plays), and a year later he played his first ever gig.
Around the same time Widenski started promoting underground parties in Estonia, including the seminal "Disco Diet", "Classic Records" and "Fried Funk" nights. Buoyed by their success, Widenski knew he had found his calling. Soon he getting booked to play his brand of funk-driven house all over Estonia as well as across Europe, Australia, Asia and USA including Hong Kong, China, Thailand, Denmark, UK, Singapore, France, India, Germany, Spain, Belgium, Croatia, Slovakia, Ukraine, Poland, Finland, Sweden, Latvia and Lithuania. Widenski started organizing bigger events such as "Macadam Lounge" and festivals all over Estonia - inviting over big international names like DJ Feadz from Mr Oizo (F-Communications - France), Erik "Dirty Jesus" Rug (Paper Recordings - France), Manuel Perez (Wrong Steps - France), Fredrik Stark (I Records - Sweden) etc. Widenski has played alongside these and others such as Bob Sinclar, Dimitri From Paris, Kym Mazelle, Moussa Clarke, S.U.M.O., Pete Tong, John Digweed, King Britt, Honey Dijon, Bert Bevans, Marcus Enochson, Llorca, Lisa Millet, Ben Westbeech, Jori Hulkkonen, Andy Ward, Kings Of Tomorrow, Grandmaster Flash, Roger Sanzhez, Jo Mills, Layo & Bushwacka, Frankie Feliciano, Angie Brown, Taka Boom and many others.

DJ Widenski’s sound could mostly be described as funky house, but he is also very partial to Chicago style tracky stuff, all underpinned by his love for 70`s disco (rumour has it he used to be a part of locally famous DJ-duo "The Stomp Brothers" - weirdly costumed 70`s bucketheads who play pure disco classics, but this cant be confirmed).

Today he’s busy pushing the house vibe in his home country Estonia with residencies at Estonia’s best clubs "Privé" (www.clubprive.ee), "Sugar" (www.sugarclub.ee) and playing out totally around 100 gigs a year all over the world! Beside that Widenski is the manager of an International DJ booking agency "Macadam Music", looking after a wealth of International and Estonian DJ talent. Widenski somehow finds the time to keep at the promotions game too: he runs the “Disco Tallinn”, “Fried Funk” parties in Tallinn, Estonia and several one-off nights too. He has also been for years an official resident-DJ for “Ministry Of Sound” and “Defected In The House” parties in Estonia.

No stranger to the airwaves as well as the dancefloor, Widenski hosted a weekly “Fried Funk” radioshow on Estonia`s only dance music radiostation “Energy FM” (93,2 MHz) for over 3 years.

In spring 2003 Widenski went to his first ever major tour in Europe and has kept the tradition of touring all over the globe since then. His music has taken him to countries like Australia, India, Hong Kong, China, Thailand, Belgium, England, France, Slovakia, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Wales, Spain, Russia etc. and to superclubs such as “Turnmills” (London), “Pacha” (Ibiza), “StereoLab” (Singapore), “Temple” (San Francisco), “Le Vogue” (Paris), “Alumbra” (Melbourne) “Seduction” (Phuket), “Vertigo” (Hong Kong), “Urban Edge” (Bangalore), “Madame JoJo`s” (London), “The Emporium” (Cardiff), “Fokused” (Stockholm) etc..

Today Widenski is spending a lot of time in his studio producing house music with his friends under the name MonkeyFunk. Their first single named "I Believe", which has remixes by Andy Ward from Soul Central was released on Ceremony Records in May 2009 and since then has got some amazing feedback. Their second single “My Way” came out on Mercado Paralelo Music in summer 2010 and their latest single “Feeling Good” in collaboration with Pete Simpson from The Sunburst Band was out on Shut The House Up in spring 2012.

Widenski is one of the best of the Baltic new breed, and a DJ of truly International calibre…
