TEMPER D (UK) [TEMPER D PRODUCTIONS]
Perhaps known best for his technical DJing ability and multiple deck mixing, Temper D has also shown himself to be an accomplished producer over the years. Releasing on various drum and bass labels since 2002, including Concord Dawn’s Uprising, techno pioneering label Offkey, Renegade Hardware, and more recently his own label Temper D Productions, his output has encompassed various styles. Over the years his music has been played by DJ’s as diverse as Adam F, Laurent Garnier, DJ Friction, John Peel, Klute, Marcus Intalex, Cut La Roc, Nicky Blackmarket, and Logistics and Nu:Tone..
While steadily moving away from the techno influences which culminated in him mixing the Offkey Firm LP, and remixing techno anthem Aural Exciter, Dave’s main focus now is on bringing together all the musical influences which make him tick into his own productions. This year has seen releases on Ganja-Tek with Prolix, several fidget house and dubstep tracks on High Rankin’s Suicide Dub, and more on Dance legend Cut La Roc’s Rocstar imprint, the tracks take elements from breakbeat, house, techno, drum and bass and dubstep – with one thing in common – they are all aimed squarely at the dancefloor.
Frustrated by the limitations that genres tend to place on themselves, Dave’s approach is to develop his tracks from one genre into another, always progressing the tunes and picking up the pace rather than letting them generically roll out. When DJing the approach is always the same, taking all genres into account and using a ex-ravers ear for the dancefloor to decide where to go next. He has already toured most of the world, making a name for himself at parties as far as South Africa, Australia and New Zealand, the USA and almost every country in Europe with a dance music scene! This schedule saw him perform in over 20 countries last year.
Ever since the springboard of winning the European Dogs On Acid DJ competition way back in 2003, Temper D’s career has continued to rise, taking him from an in demand party DJ right through to respected producer, and now with the backing of several influential labels and a tonne of new material in the wings, these are exciting times.
Kiwa are Mark Nomen and DJ Mauzer, an electronic music live act & DJ duo from Finland. Started out as a psychedelic trance project in 1995 they soon made a name for themselves playing in underground raves and forest parties. Since then the sound of Kiwa has grown into a punchy mix of dancefloor electro and breaks. Their music has influences among other styles from tech funk, house and drum 'n' bass with driving funky rhythms, rough basslines and epic movie score moments.
Since 2002 Kiwa has toured on live and DJ gigs around the world from Brazil to Israel and from Russia to Western Europe. Kiwa's live setup consists of two synchronized laptops, keyboards, controllers and loads of samples and audio channels by which they build their energetic performances on. DJ/Producer Kris Kylven, with a strong history in bands like Killing Joke, Juno Reactor, UX, The 69 Eyes and many more has been flavouring their performances as a live drummer in the past.
Kiwa has worked with many different projects in genres ranging from hip hop to rock, including sound design for the Finnish television and movie industry. They have released their music on labels such as Ministry Of Sound, Digital Structures, Exogenic Records, Liquid Sound Design (Dragonfly Records), Tribal Vision, Bombtraxx Records and Funkatech Records to name a few. Their remix work includes production for established artists like Jaia and Far Too Loud.
In 2007 Kiwa's 'On The Frequency' received 4 stars out of 5 in the DJ MAG, reviewed by John -00- Fleming. Not to mention the following album Markku was producing at the time, Highpersonic Whomen's 'Push The Limit', received 5 out of 5.
In 2009 Kiwa's hit single 'Drop Control' dominated the Beatport Top 100 breaks chart as #1 for 3 weeks. Being one of the best selling breaks tunes of 2009, the single was nominated in the Beatport Top 10 chart of hottest breaks track that year alongside with artists like Plump DJ's, Fatboy Slim and NAPT.
Mark is also known for his previous breakbeat project Headphonics and has built a good name for himself as an on-demand remix artist and a mastering engineer. Kiwa is currently busy creating new tunes and remixes for your pleasure. Stay tuned, more to come!
In 1998, Joni Heikkilä aka Dj Dstroy began his journey & love affair with drum & bass music listening to the beats and sounds that emanated from the UK underground scene around that time. Citing his addiction to the music as the classic Virus Ed Rush & Optical tech monster “Wormhole”, the early dark twisted sounds Virus & Renegade Hardware provided the soundtrack to his submersion into dnb music and culture.
Whilst being a knowledgeable connoisseur of drum and bass, with an appreciation of tunes from across the wider spectrum of the music, Dstroy draws his dj set inspirations from his favorite artists which include the likes of Dieselboy, Andy C, Ed Rush& Optical, Hype & Cause 4 Concern. His record bag on an average evening is filled with the latest, and some timeless classics from labels such as Ram, Viper, Planet Human, Bad Taste, Lifted & Playaz.
His dj style leans towards the more upfront and techy/dancefloor selection of the dnb genre, with dynamic fast mixing, utilizing his 10 years of technical experience behind the turntables with double drops.
Not content with just playing the music, Dstroy has been actively spreading the vibe and promoting d&b in his city Lahti in Finland. Since 2008, hosting the very popular sessions RUMBLE!! he´s invited a wide variety of international guests & performers alongside well known national dj/producers whom he supports with equally as much vigor. Previous international guests have included Dj AMC (UK), STAPLETON MC (UK), L PLUS (SK), TEMPER D (UK), MC COPPA (UK), CRYSTAL CLEAR (UK), RAIDEN (UK), MISTANOIZE (UK), WPL (IT), MC TEMPER (GER), PROLIX (UK) and many more…
