Andy Daniell (UK), Tapio K

Defectedin nuori lupaus saapuu vierailemaan Helsinkiin. Tällä 26v kaverilla on jo 7 vuotta takana Defectedin In The House residenttinä ja on herättänyt huomiota poikkeuksellisen hyvänä dj:nä ja tuottajana. Hänen soundinsa rakentuu deepin ja sielukkaan housen ympärille yhdistäen mukaan aina ajan hengessä toimivia elektroonisia elementtejä. Tuotanto puolella kiipesi v. 2009 Beatportin ja Traxsourcen top 5:seen kollaboraatiollaan Sandy Riveran kanssa "Whatever". Hänen kykynsä fuusioittaa soundimaailmoja on huomattu mm. Strictly Rhythm, Defected, Ministry of Sound, Blackwiz, CR2 levy-yhtiöillä, tuloksena lukuisia remixejä ja edittejä.

“Bringing something fresh to the table and contributing to a label renowned for upfront house music... Getting the opportunity to work with the artists, spotting something new, seeing tracks be released on the label and learning from Simon Dunmore is awesome. I’m extremely lucky to have a day job that I love – not many people can honestly say that.”

Ja mikä hänen mielestään parasta:

“Getting to play the music you love to people who love to party!”

It’s hard to believe that at just 24 years of age Andy Daniell has already clocked up more than 5 years as an In the House resident for Defected. Since joining the label in 2003 as their youngest ever resident he has gained international recognition as an exceptionally talented DJ and producer. Most recently Andy’s been recognised by luxury brand Cartier as one of their 2009 ‘Ones to Watch’, and has also joined M8’s pick of, ‘Tomorrow People’ and Mixmag’s, ‘Breakthrough Ibiza DJ’s.’

Cutting his teeth at El Divino in 2004 as Defected’s Ibiza resident, Andy captivated crowds and industry heads as he fast became Defected’s hottest, rising talent. From there the talented spinner from Southend, UK has continued to establish a sound that fuses deep and soulful house with a tougher more electronic edge. His passion for playing is clearly infectious and 2009 alone has seen him rock dancefloors across Brazil, Madrid, London, Abu Dhabi, Greece and beyond. And the best thing he says about getting behind the decks on the finest floors across the globe? “Getting to play the music you love to people who love to party!”

Aside from UK and international DJ commitments Andy’s production skills continue to flourish most recently with the summer smash and his debut release on Defected Records, “Whatever.” Co-produced with Sandy Rivera, Andy’s remix of the mighty vocal inspired ‘Whatever’ has hit top 5 spots on both Beatport and Traxsource – and is still climbing! With a discography that’s been growing ever since his first released track at 16 (the aptly named ‘Doin it’) ‘Whatever’ follows previous collaborations and releases with Sandy Rivera, Afterlife and Timmy Vegas.

His production and editing skills have been noted across the industry and called into action on tracks from Strictly Rhythm, Defected, Ministry of Sound, Blackwiz, CR2 and many more. A master of editing and the fusing of styles he’s also responsible for compiling the new breed of Bargrooves compilations. As the man responsible for the ‘groove’ in Bargrooves Andy’s sophisticated selections of disco classics, house anthems and chillout tunes have lead to the re-launched series regularly topping global house charts.

Andy also holds the coveted position of A&R & Catalogue Manager at Defected, putting his eye for talent and respect for quality music to good use for one of the most pioneering labels on the planet. It’s a role that’s seen Andy indulge his love of, “bringing something fresh to the table and contributing to a label renowned for upfront house music.” As he says himself, “getting the opportunity to work with the artists, spotting something new, seeing tracks be released on the label and learning from Simon Dunmore is awesome. I’m extremely lucky to have a day job that I love – not many people can honestly say that.”

So what does the future hold for Andy Daniell? “If I’m still A&R’ing, DJ’ing and producing for Defected in years to come I’ll be a very happy man. The best is still to come so watch this space!”
