Morphology LIVE (Zyntax Motorcity, Abstract Forms)
Gimme The Dance DJs Apostoli & Jacedonia
On Friday the 10th of June, Phonour together with Bassline Festival 2011 presents a night of electronic funk at mbar - Morphology LIVE!
Like a thick layer of dust blown off the cover of an age-old user guide, Morphology breathes new life to old vintage machines. The faint rhythmic echoes of desolated assembly lines meet futuristic optimism in the form of spine-tinglingly beautiful haunting melodies and on the background, the beat of interstellar funk just doesn't stop. Morphology is music presented in four dimensions.
The Finnish duo Michael Diekmann and Matti Turunen - both recording under different pseudonyms such as CRC and Näköradiomies - with joint efforts perform as Morphology to fuse early electro sounds with haunting melodies to create a deep blend of atmospheric future funk. Debut album Urania's Mirror on Zyntax Motorcity and various 12" releases on Abstract Forms and diametric. have gained Morphology an international crowd of loyal followers and a stable foothold on the contemporary techno/electro scene. On this bright summer night at mbar, Morphology will bring the audience of Bassline Festival and Phonour a glimpse of a peculiarly beautiful event - machines becoming human.
Morpology will be accompanied by Gimme The Dance DJs Apostoli & Jacedonia bringing from wax the latest sounds of L.A. modern funk, wonky beats and experimental electronic hiphop in the vein of Free The Robots, Dam Funk, Devonwho, B Bravo, Erik Lau and FS Green. For a taster of the sounds, check out their promo mix "Too Cold For Palm Trees":
