Maxxi Soundsystems (Futureboogie, Brighton) "Criticize" single on finnish, Kojak Giant Sounds label, was one of the last years biggest underground club hits. Next saturday we have a pleasure to host them first time in Helsinki with support of the Kojak's label boss, Ionik. They're all proper DJ's as well and definitely know how to get a party going, so don't miss this one.
"The pairing of Sam Watts and Neal Lewis kicked off playing under their Maxxi Soundsystem alias in 2009 starting a party under the same guise and inviting acts like Greg Wilson, Disco Bloodbath and Todd Terje to come and play with them in Brighton. The parties were enough to see them start to play further afield last year; including Secret Garden Party, Big Chill, Jezebel, The Garden Festival in Croatia and for We Love… at Space in Ibiza.
This year their debut release on Kojak Giant Sounds (containing a mighty refix of Alexander O’Neal’s 80s hit ‘Criticize’) has had a huge reaction featuring in Beats In Space best of 2010 show, being played on Annie Mac and Toddla T’s Radio 1 shows and also recently on Erol Alkan’s BBC 6 Music show, not to mention the release itself (only available on vinyl) selling out in days (Juno reported it lasting just over 48 hrs)
Prior to forming together as Maxxi Soundsystem the duo have already built up many years DJ experience playing with everyone from Norman Cook to Radio Slave and gaining a reputation in their home town for hosting forward thinking underground parties and putting together dancefloor focussed sets including many of their own tracks and special edits – their debut release being one of these…
