It’s been amazing eighteen years since me and my friends started organizing illegal raves in the squat houses of Helsinki in early 90s. Most bizarre experience must have been DJing for Jean-Paul Gaultier and Helena Christensen at a Berlin fetish club Kit Kat after their first ever Berlin show. Most flashy ones have been entertaining the rich & famous of Hong Kong or Russia while warming up Chemical Brothers, Paul van Dyk or Underworld was something I’ll never forget. From the venues I’ve DJed Tresor in Berlin, Pacha in Ibiza, Panama in Amsterdam and CODE in Tokyo were special places to play.
My recording career started in 1998 with Slusnik Luna’s Nicklas Renqvist. ‘Unity’ was signed to british Steelfish label and found it’s way to Gatecrasher and Renaissance compilations. Sasha and Oakenfold opened their Essential Mixes with it and Pete Tong played it on BBC Radio 1. Gigs with DJ Tiesto lead into signing to his Black Hole label while other releases include ‘Embrace’ on Five AM, ‘Beautiful’ on Sential (finnish national singles chart #1) and the Andy Moor collab ‘YearZero’ on Andy’s AVA label. My remixes include Aalto’s ‘Rush’ made together with Super8, Stage One remix made for Hooj Choons and more recently Way Out West’s Killa which started out as a bootleg.
As promoters we have come a very long way from the days of illegal warehouse raves. Together with my friends, we have run Club Unity for over ten years, promoted Renaissance’s events in Helsinki and organized events called “Pacifique” for almost 3000 people in a water park. We have had fun at 16 hour Sunday clubbing sessions at DTM and have brought Jose Padilla to Finland. We have organised events on boats, in parks, on ice-skating rinks and have also gone on a worldwide tour of Finland using a Helsinki city municipal bus. To me electronic music and club culture has always been about open-mindness, unity amongst people and pushing the musical boundaries forward, whether it’s ambient concert in a park or full on rave in warehouse. The party guru, a Finnish club legend and the boy who brought techno to Finland, DJ Eliot Ness is one of Helsinki’s few true club heroes who has pioneered the electronic & urban music scene since day one, from the age of 10. It’s been a long way for the underage kid, two times #3 DJ in the world at the DMC & Technics championships, organising the first outlaw warehouse parties in Finland and travelling to rave parties all over the globe to become the producer of the country's biggest electronic & urban music concerts, and dj’ng Europe’s major raves himself.
The importance of Eliot Ness for the Finnish clubbing history is something that cannot be ignored. His career reads like an encyclopedia. A Finnish clubbing encyclopedia. Trying to wrap it up with just a few words is impossible. Having the longest experience in raves and setting standards for club culture since the beginning of the beginning, he has achieved probably more than anyone else in the Finnish clubbing history.

Since day one of acid house era Eliot Ness has given birth to dozens of Scandinavia's most succesful club and event brands which each have broken every record possible. From small undergound raves to sport hall size concert events. From the first huge water park events to the legendary Airave, a party at 30,000 feet inside Finnair’s MD 11 aircraft. All together, stunning 1000 nights under his belt make him the most productive independent promoter ever lived in Finland.

Being also the first to bring foreign electronic music acts to Finland, his production list is unbeatable. It’s like reading an A to Z of who’s who in electronic & urban music. Everyone from Kelis, Grandmaster Flash and Redman to Richie Hawtin, Sven Väth and Chase & Status have played at his events. The list is endless. He has worked also with brands such as Cream, Mayday, World Of Drum & Bass, Formation, Live Nation, Hacienda, Twisted, among many others, and produced official after concert events for bands like U2, Kraftwerk and Block Party.

As a DJ he has warmed up and played alongside with hundreds of icons such as Laurent Garnier, Public Enemy, Mantronix and Carl Cox. His gigging all over Europe includes travelling in a dozen countries, and nearly every city, venue and festival in Finland. Outside his homeland Ness has played everywhere from Royal Albert Hall to Mayday raves. He was the first Finnish dj to tour all over Europe at major raves and clubs.

His radio career consist of working with 10 major radio stations over the past 18 years, producing the most memorable and innovated electronic & hip hop music shows for Yle, Radio Helsinki, Kiss FM and others. Together over 600 shows mark him also as a person who has the longest history of hosting club music shows in Finland. He also has appearances abroad for respected stations such as Fritz and Kiss Berlin and he's about to start his own new radio show in March 2011.

His classic radioshows, unbeatable dj skills, remarkable promoter history, uncompromising style and creative work for the clubbing culture have been the corner stone and an inspiration for generations of dj's, promoters, and what's most important; the young and old clubbers throughout the country to whom he introduced a new dance craze... acid rave music.
