ROCKWELL Biography:

Now residing in North London via Bristol and Cardiff, Rockwell has become prolific in a very short amount of time due to a series of strong productions, each taking a fresh and different approach to the drum and bass blueprint. With releases scheduled for some of the scenes largest labels: Digital Soundboy, Critical, and Shogun, 2010 will see Rockwell become one of the leading new producers in the scene. With wide reaching support from Djs such as Andy C, Shy Fx, Friction, Noisia and Hype, to Alix Perez, Icicle, Spectrasoul, Breakage and even Radio 1’s Gilles Peterson, Rockwell is one of an increasingly rare breed of producers whose tunes are suited to both the big raves and small intimate dances. Although being introduced to Drum and Bass quite late when attending University in Bristol, Rockwell’s musical background enabled him to pick up Djing quite quickly. Earning his Djing stripes playing week in week out as a resident of renowned Cardiff night Aperture, now he sees himself sharing lineups with many of his peers in London clubs such as Fabric and receiving bookings as far away as St Petersburg. Progressing into production after becoming hooked on Djing, the six years of hard work are beginning to pay off, with collaborations with Icicle, Zero T and Stapleton receiving regular rotation, and with high profile remixes for Sabre, C4C and others outside of the drum and bass scene on the cards for 2010, Rockwell’s’ future is looking bright.

KASRA Biography:

Since his first forays into drum & bass in the late 1990's as a burgeoning young DJ, there's no doubt in 2011 that Kasra has made an indelible mark on the scene, a mark that continues to grow ever-stronger as his Critical Music empire prospers.

Conceived back in 2002 in a front room in north London, the label has grown from a simple idea driven by a commitment to putting out the best music the scene has to offer; it has now become one of the most well respected underground dance music labels in the UK. Nurturing new talent and releasing some of the freshest breaks and beats from the likes of Break, Rockwell, Breakage, Cyantific, Marcus Intalex, S.P.Y, Calibre, Total Science and many more, it has gone on to build a loyal following around the world driven on by Kasra's never ending quest to release quality underground bass music.

As Critical's figurehead the demand for Kasra's DJ'ing skills has escalated to the point of a schedule that sees him playing regularly every weekend throughout the UK and rest of the world. Vienna, Budapest, Shanghai, Beijing, Miami, Berlin and of course his beloved London are just a few of the places that have beared witness to the Critical sound and the list just keeps getting longer. Quite a feat these days for someone who's not yet really taken the production bull by the horns.

Though this could be about to change as Kasra's back in the studio readying his own takes on the Critical sound; a collaboration with S.P.Y. is already complete and due for a May 2011 release date as well as solo productions gradually working their way into the sets of the great and the good of the dnb community.

Not content with a release schedule bursting with future classics and his own rigorous DJ'ing schedule continually on the up, the label even now boasts its own residency at one of the worlds best electronic music venues , Fabric, where it can regularly be seen smashing up the place with an always superstar cast of DJing elite from D&B and beyond. So now as heads turn and eyes look forward to the rest of 2011 it seems this could be the tipping point for Kasra both as a DJ and a label head of one of the most inspiring imprints in dance music today. The Critical age is only just beginning.

MC MESSY Biography

Messy by name, messy by nature.. Jay, otherwise known as ‘Messy’ to his friends and cohorts has been taking charge of microphones up and down the country for the last 5 years delivering thousands of bars of profound lyrics that have kept parties alive till the break of dawn. They do say hard work always pays off and in the case of Messy, this statement couldn’t be more true.

So far his efforts have seen him perform all over the globe at some of the biggest parties in the land with every A list DJ you can think of, and probably some you cant! As a member of the ‘E-Z Rollers’ live band, he toured with Jay, Alex and Kelly promoting the ‘Conductor’ album, on which he also features. 2010 has seen him continue his rise to fame with performances in Europe and some of the UKs biggest nights: Fabric:Live, Warning, Secret Garden Party, Movement, Intrigue, Torque and more. Messy is the MC of choice for a number of imprints including Integral, Footprints, Siren, Sonorous Music, Intercom, Fabric:Live and has recently been taken on board by Drum and Bass' biggest brand Hospital Records and has been asked to perform at a number of upcoming Hospitality's.

The 2010 Drum & Bass Arena Awards is a time for not only the well established artists to be hailed as legends but for break through
performers to take their rightful position in the Drum & Bass fraternity and be recognised as stars of the future; with that in mind we proudly present to you the Best Newcomer MC of 2010, Messy MC!
