The song was issued under the band name SQUEEZE UP and was published in more than 20 countries. Helsinki might not have the reputation for its hedonistic lifestyle or the cosmopolitan and diverse crowds, but it is definitely one of the coolest clubbing destinations in the world. The clubland of the city is ever more inventive in order to create the vibe, groove and sensations that a late evening under the Balearic sky or an early morning on a heaving London basement delivers, i.e. party with a big P.
Today and for the past five years at the forefront of making the city move and groove has been HouseAmigo DJs. A collective of two internationally recognised Finnish DJ's and producers, Sami Kiiveri and Sakke Haaranen.
Years of DJ'ing to crowds varying from hundreds of people on a cruise ship to thousands of people at a beach in Indonesia, dragging the boxes of plastic through sand and snow, it was time to put the wealth of experience, expertise and unique sound into one box and Sami and Sakke joined forces. For them, nothing beats seeing the people tapping to the beat and taking a journey with them through Balearic Tribal/Tech/Progressive House.
First came the monthly club night in Helsinki, Kinyobi that quickly got the attention of the Finnish house scene. In 2005 HouseAmigo DJs first release "Passion Eterna/Sauna" was produced in conjunction with Medicine Men, collective known in Finland for their deep tribal house sound of mainland Spain.
The success of the release encouraged HouseAmigo DJs to re-locate to London while still continuing their monthly nights in Helsinki with ever more impressive line up of international superstar DJ's along them. Soon after the move, DJ MAG praised their mix as one that makes a difference and the bigger doors began opening.
HouseAmigo DJs recently signed their collaboration track with Heikki L "GOD SAVE THE QUEER" to one of the top dance labels in the world OXYGEN RECORDINGS (SPINNIN'). HouseAmigo DJs other collaboration with the provocative diva MELLEEFRESH "SLEAZY BITCH" were released on globally respected Electro-,Tech-, and Progressive House label PLAY DIGITAL RECORDS (home of Deadmau5, Freshmau5 etc.). Their productions have been supported by globally recognised DJ's such as Deux (David Penn & Toni Bass), G-Martin (Matinée Group), Chris Montana, Per QX, Sebastian Krieg (Shik Stylko), Tony English (SuperMartXé), Ivan Gomez, Eric Entrena, Oliver M (Circuit/La Demence), Edu De La Torre (Salvation/HustlaBall), StoneBridge and many more!
Their unique pounding sound with touches of the Scandinavian madness, Mediterranean passion with a sexy London edge has taken them to cause damage on dance floors in countries like: Indonesia, Thailand, Portugal, Spain, Germany, Sweden, Russia, Estonia, Latvia, UK, Finland to venues like Ministry of Sound (London), Pacha (Ibiza, London, Porto), Turnmills (London), Essential Club (Riga), Barcode (London), Shoko (Barcelona), Cargo (London), Herbal (London) to parties like Release Yourself, The Gallery, London Pride, Mondays Calling @ Space (Catamaran Fiesta), Hed Kandi, Pushca (Ibiza, London, Helsinki, Windsor), Matador London, Fierce Angel, Pacifique, Redlight, Funky4love etc.
They have shared the sound system with some of the biggest names in house music from the pioneers like Roger Sanchez, Danny Rampling and Anthony Pappa trough to Thomas Gold, Tom Stephan, David Penn, Hoxton Whores to name a few. HouseAmigo DJs continue to promote their own club nights in London and Helsinki. During the past three years their night MEDITERRANEO has established itself on the monthly clubbing calendars of London and Helsinki.
Alongside several other club residencies, HouseAmigo DJs has also appeared on radio stations all around the world through the global radio stations like: Push FM, Sirius Satellite Radio, ETN.fm, Proton, Energy FM, Masmusic.fm etc.
On top of everything else, HouseAmigo DJs are regularly booked to play in private parties for companies like Nokia, MTV, SONY Play Station, Red Bull and has been voted by Megamind.se as one of the TOP 10 "Most Popular Nordic DJ's" 06 and 05.
No need to mention that there is more to come from these boys.
Prosper Rek (1985), born in London, but raised in Amsterdam, grew up in a musical environment where he was surrounded by music in various manners. Prosper (as a kid) played the violin for nine years before switching to bass-guitar which, combined with his love for various music styles, lay a solid foundation to understand the diversity and emotion within music. Since the age of 10 Ibiza has been a yearly travel destination that created a special love for the sound of this music innovating island. Prosper’s love and feelings for house music became deeper and deeper as the years went by. He decided to order all the necessary DJ-equipment to practice, and started his career. He knew that if he wouldn’t try, the question ‘what if’ would chase him for the rest of his life. With no friends to teach him the tricks of spinning, YouTube did. Hours of practice together with his Ibizan influenced musical background made him understand the technical aspects and ideas behind electronic music. In the summer of 2008, after gigs at nightclubs in Amsterdam, he left for Ibiza to play at renowned beach club venues like Blue Marlin, Nassau Beach, Jockey Club and the Pacha Terrace. 2009 got him a residency at Blue Martin that settled him as an international DJ with recent gigs followed at: Maddox Club – London (UK), Kare(ment) Club – Monaco (FR), Peter Pan Club – Riccione (IT), Cosy Box – Film Festival Cannes (FR).
Meanwhile during the winter periods Prosper organized his own nights at Amsterdam’s Club NL and Cocktail bar Marquee. Together with DJ/saxophone duo ‘Sax on Rhythm’ he gives a fabulous performance of house and live music combined. Next to these events gigs at the “Supperclub”, “Stubnitz” and “Escape” made winters a lot hotter in Amsterdam. Now, after the success of Summer 2009, this summer is one not to be missed out of. 2010 again will be the setting of a great summer at Blue Marlin with various famous DJ’s joining him behind the tables. Coming from such a diverse musical background, and heavily influenced by the Ibizan music scene, Prosper’s style can be described as diverse. From loungy beach club days building up to rocking beach parties, till late nightclub hours, he has a non-commercial but nonetheless approachable style for a broad audience. Playing at Deep-house and House/Techno gigs, every single time is a challenge, adaptability is the key.
