Bass + ass + star + bastards = BASSTARDS
Basstards is a brand new drum 'n' bass club concept which brings here the hottest artists and freshest new talents. Every night hits you heavy dose of baselines and fattest beats. We don't give a shit who you are, come and dance your bad ass off!
To-Sha fell in love with dnb instantly in 1996 when hearing it from
local radio station called Raadio 2. After getting more into the music
and collecting records there wasn't almost any dnb parties happening
and time seemed right to try and throw an event called Tune In with
Qba & L.eazy in 2000. It was a big success and a pivotal moment in
Estonian drum'n'bass movement as people started to recognize this
music more and more. This led to helping to organize one of the
biggest dnb raves in Estonia called Circulation with the biggest names
of the scene at the time - Grooverider, Fabio, Adam F, ect and also
organizing the www.clubarena.com drum'n'bass tent with of famous Sun
Dance Music Festival, which ran for 5 years. Drum'n'bass was made a
household name.
Around 2000 he was offered to do a dnb radio show at a small radio
staion called Nõmme raadio which gained quite some popularity until it
was shut down but shortly after he was offered with Qba & L.eazy to
have a go at Energy Fm and launched the Tune In radio show until they
got an offer they couldn't refuse - a show on a national radio station
Raadio 2. It was the same station where he got the first taste of this
music and ending up there wasn't something you were expecting. To-Sha
continues to run things with his colleges Qba & L.eazy every friday
evening with now called the Tjuun In show - one of the most popular
evening shows on this station. With Qba & L.Eazy he is also running a
monthly event called PEOL in a new club Balou.
What goes into his music selection and dj'ing then he likes to always
keep all possibilities open and u can never be sure what change of
mood might come up next. It's all about taking a journey through this
music but also keeping in mind that we are here to have fun.
Mark Slavin bio
Mark Slavin, born 1980 in Tallinn, got caught by music at the tender age of three, when he started listening to various vinyl records his parents had, on his own - mostly rock and 70ies disco. Later the taste
went more electronic way, sufficient to name Depeche Mode, Jean-Michel Jarre and Vangelis as his favourites at age ten, soon to be overwhelmed by the likes of KLF, Marusha, Westbam, Orbital, and in early teenage, by digital hardcore and gabber. At age 16, drum&bass finally found him, to stick with him for all times.
In 1997 he had his first public appearance as a DJ at a school party, a year later his first "real" gig was (shortly) shown on Kanal 2 TV channel, and at the age of 19 he was co-hosting a weekly eclectica radio show "Soulheaven" at Nõmme Raadio station, which soon moved to Energy FM to stay for a longer period. In 2003 he took residency at Tallinn's Club Privé with his partner in crime and a great influence - DJ Dzheimz. They have been the residents for Jus'Fine Formation monthly drum&bass extravaganza ever since, making it the longest running serial d&b event in Estonia. It also spawned a new mellow drum&bass show for Energy FM called Fine Flava - after the mixed CD given out for free quarterly - which Mark hosted for 2 years and which became the most popular show on the station until it was sold to another owner and every show was cancelled.
During his DJing career, Mark Slavin has played (and still is) regularly at Estonia's biggest events, including Pirate Station, Fifth Element, Sin City, Jus'Fine Formation, Sundance Music Festival, alongside almost every noteworthy name in drum&bass history; released a rather popular deep house single on Rulers Of The Deep's label and a drum&bass tune on Estonia's drum&bass compilation; hosted 3 different radio shows; won an award for best drum&bass DJ in Estonia; played several times in Russia, Latvia and Finland; is a frequent guest at Raadio 2 drum&bass show Tjuun In, hosted by DJs To-Sha, Qba and L Eazy; and, finally, proven himself as a truly versatile DJ who can blend a lot of different music without sounding "wrong", including house, techno, funk and dubstep.
Currently, Mark holds his residency at Club Privé at a monthly Jus'Fine Formation event, can often be seen playing records at club Balou, spends time in the studio and sometimes organizes an atmospheric drum&bass event with DJ Qba, which is called simply ATMOÕHTU. He also often deejays as a guest at various dubstep, house, eclectica and techno events in Estonia.
