First we took the party into the forest. Now we take the forest into the party!
7 years after the first Konemetsä weve to admit that were addicted. Addicted to produce an annual event that is made of Peace, Love, Unity and Respect.
Earlier this year we made a emotional decision that were not going to produce Konemetsä Open Air Forest Festival in 2010. After that our addiction took over and made us crave, think, gather, laugh and finally invent a new urban branch of Konemetsä. We came up with an idea of a one-off event where the forest is going to be indoors and where pioneers of their own genres are performing their brand new tracks among some of their old classics in a No Logo environment.
To make this happen we will decorate the dancefloor with leafy trees and have one of the pioneers of Nu-School Breaks, Psychedelic Trance and Suomi Sound on stage at Kaivohuone on Friday 9th July.
This time we will not take the party into the forest but take the forest into the party. Konemesta will be held at Kaivohuone in one of the most fascinating buildings in the nation, surrounded by a lush park in the middle of Helsinki. Since 1838 the venue has been a place for having fun in an art deco environment.
Our aim is to make a stunning line-up. We asked three artist to come and play and perform. All three are pioneers of their own music genre and we are very pleased to have the following artists on stage:
Adam Freeland
Frank E (Koxbox)
Texas Faggott
Adam Freeland
Adam is a pioneer of the nu-school breaks genre and a grammy award nominee in the remix category. He has released ten albums and a dozen of singles. Besides that he has remixed or worked together with The Doors, Daft Punk, The Orb, Pink and Nirvana. For those of you who are addicted to games his customized tracks for GTA4, Need For Speed and The Sims 2 might have inspired you to play on. Last time Adam visited Finland he was playing for a full-house crowd at the Koneisto festival in 2005.
Frank E (Koxbox)
Frank E is a Psy-Trance veteran and the fouder of the legendary danish group Koxbox. Koxbox has been released by the german top producer Sven Väths label Harthouse. Frank E has performed at Konemetsä and is a very congenial artist in Helsinki, Finland and all over the world due to his rich and innovating soundscape. For those who have an addiction towards movies might have seen the danish underground film Pusher where Koxbox sound was presented on the soundtrack.
Texas Faggott
Texas Faggott is not just another artist. When it comes to the genre Suomi Sound, these guys are among the ones who started it back in the early nineties. Their music has been released by various international labels, mainly by Exogenic Records. The Faggotts have been playing at Konemetsä since year one and they are undoubtedly the most well known Finnish Psy-Trance group in the world.
Back to Basics
At one level we will take the time machine and go back to square one. This means that there will be no corporate logos at the event to disturb the original party wibe. We will establish a no-logo event that is truly independent. The No-Logo mode will also take place at next years Konemetsä Open Air.
