We join forces with Normihomolehti launch party. It will be extra special party taking over the two rooms of Jenny Woo.
We have 6 DJs playing variety of pop, bizarre and dance: AnnaC, Polysex, U Know and Drag Attack DJs Tatu, Mikkokoo ja Antti Asplund. There are one and half hours of shows including surprise stars and Prinssit, Lola Vanilla, Pirjo ja kaverin Pirjo.
Event strts with drinks at 20.00 and shows start at 22.00. Dancing till 4am.
MIKKOKOO
Mikko is one of the top Finnish drag stars. He is not the traditional kind that does lipsinking in a nice dress, but his style is more East London cutting edge. He was the pregnant model during Plastic Pony shows in the early 90s in Helsinki. When Sunday Times Style magazine in the UK told first time about Electroclash style Mikko was in the main picture. He was the door whore at famous Nag Nag Nag and Boombox clubs and got his face on cover of the trendiest records. Modelling in i-D magazine etc. International trendsetter indeed. He has been in various bands, makes music and DJs all over Europe. He plays indie-electro, rock, italo-pop, 80's retro and a few Kylie type of homofriendly tunes. Here is a taster of what we might hear from him:
ANTTI ASPLUND
The fabulous designer likes stories and fantasy and we are looking forward to his visions for a drag look. He became known to the larger audience trough Muodin huipulle television show, but has already designed collections for years and has his own boutique in Isoroobertinkatu in Helsinki. Future plans for him include designing menswear collection, publishing a book and showing his fashions at London's Fashion week.
Multitalented Antti has already tried DJing in places like Flop and Kuudes Linja and the girls and boys go wild. He likes dancing to trashy disco and will play that at Drag Attack! too!
NORMIHOMOLEHTI
NHL is a new hetero-friendly gay magazine.
NHL is an independent free newspaper, distributed in Helsinki, Tampere and Turku. Ad-funded NHL's edition is 25 000 copies, and its first number appears in the 10 June.
NHL has not committed to an organization, or ideology, but it is looking for new, diagonal perspectives on culture, politics and current phenomena. NHL wants to create a new hetero-friendly gay culture and gay-friendly heterosexual culture.
NHL's authors come from different backgrounds: pop culture, academia, nightlife, radio and television. The magazine is published by an independent media house Voima Kustannus Oy.
