Doppler with Tatu (Trip) & Paul Easy (Clinic)

Half a year has gone since we started, and our contract with Loop is running out. This means that this may very well be the last Doppler at Loop, but who knows.

This lineup this time is definitely the most impressive so far. Joining us, residents Bloom & Upi, are two very special guests indeed. Perhaps the most flamboyant artist in Helsinki’s scene, we have the original club kid Tatu joining us. Look out for his forthcoming project Drag Attack! this spring, along with his Trip project of course, which has brought such stars as Ellen Allien to Finland. Our second artist for this evening is Helsinki’s own early bird Mr. Paul Easy, who organizes the weekly After Hours party on Sundays plus off course the always magnificent Clinic. Expect the best of tech house, techno, house and a whole range of other musical influences from these two gentlemen. Us resident’s promise to deliver the best cuts of deep and funky grooves available. Some new tracks fresh out of the studio should be ready by then, so keep your ears peeled for some never before heard material.

So come on down and celebrate the end of our run or possibly the beginning of a new era of Doppler & Loop friendship.

See you at discobar Loop!

Tatu (Trip, Drag Attack!)

His clubbing 'career' began as a go go dancer / club kid / photographer in the infamous Disco 2000 in New York in 1989. During his univiersity years in Rovaniemi he organised parties and started DJing. He lived many years in London and played and hosted in clubs such as WetYourself, Egg, Area, Nag Nag Nag, Crash, The Cock, Horse Meat Disco, Kaos and Actart. He even appeared on the Radio1 stage at London Pride with Mikko Karhu for hundred thousand people. His DJing style has varied from chilled minimal house at London's fashion week opening party to banging tech-house at afterhours clubs in Milan. In Helsinki he has played in venues such as Redrum, Kuudes Linja, Playground, Siltanen and Loop. In addition to playing music he is still, after all these years, enthusiastic to dress up in all possible colours and shapes and documents the nightlife with his camera. His unique looks have been seen on the pages of Interview, The Face, I-D, Sunday Times Style, Boyz, QX, Vogue(Japan), Vision(China) and on the pages of webzine KCTV which he co-produces with Kenny Campbell. Recently he was featured in Helsinki's Metro paper as the Geisha of the Clubland.

Paul Easy bio:

Firstly, I'm sorry to announce that this biography doesn't contain any first-time-ever-heard stories about the instruments I used to chew when I was in my mother's womb, the artists I've seen playing in same venue before or after me, or any other kind of most-intresting-info ever. This is just a basic introduction to me as a dj (and as a person as well, I guess).

I started playing records at the tender age of I-don't-remeber and after that I've been collecting records, mp3s, headphones and whatever djs need to get the job done. I've also spent enough time behind the decks to be comfortable on saying that I'm one of the most skillful techno & house djs in Finland no matter how egoistic that might sound. If you don't believe me, listen to a mix, come to my gig or spend the rest of your life thinking I'm a liar.

I'm not into self-promoting, blogging, making bulletins in myspace or making accounts to twitter or whatever to tell all the world about what I just ate or what colour was my mucus the last time I coughed. I rather spend that time on finding new intresting music and producing it. I must force myself to update my gigs to myspace but I do it to give you a possibility to come to check whether I'm lying earlier in my bio or not. Oh, and because I must have some kind of attention deficit disorder I justified myself to do a listing of the labels that have released my tracks on this point of the bio. Those are BugEyed, Planetaria, TypeSix Rec., Wicked Rec., Subtraxx and Com.pact.

I play mainly tech house with influences from various genres around it. I also like to do it with 3 or 4 cdjs to make it more intresting for the audience and myself. And yes, I play cds. I've bought my vinyls in the past but I'm too lazy to carry those around. Yet I'm so stubborn that I'm still in this pre-digital era limbo and I haven't found myself enjoying the modern ways of using computer as a music bank/record back and somekind of software to handle those tracks. I rather do it with my hands. So yeah, I'm stuck in the past yet I'm over the "proper" past in this scene. How sad can that be? Well I guess not that sad because people still come to see me playing those cds.

When I'm not having a hard time writing a bio, updating myspace, producing music or playing it I'm propably running my After Hours -club, the only weekly afterparty in Finland. I love doing those, because the atmosphere in there is so different from the evenings. At least in my home country. I guess my past in the psychedelic trance left some kind of an urge to find some bigger experiences for the dancefloor than the latest hits. I hope it makes me special. In a good way for once. And don't get me wrong, I love playing in all kinds of parties from small bars to big one-off venues but I'm always after that same collective hypnosis thing on the dancefloor and as far as I'm concerned, dj is a part of a dancefloor as well, not some kind of god-like figure who should be making coolest ever poses every single time that the track drops the kick and bass off.

This all makes me probably sound like a bit annoying guy. Well I just might be. That's why I'm doing something so loud that you can't hear me speaking. You should be thankful. And if I'm lucky you might actually be.
