TUOMAS SALMELA aka PHONOGENIC
Tuomas Salmela, born and living in Finland, has been working the European dance music underground for quite some time now. You may be familiar with his slammin' releases on 20:20 VISION, MOODMUSIC, COCOON or even the late Chicago giant GUIDANCE.
Supported by the biggest DJs in the industry, Tuomas material produced under his PHONOGENIC moniker is well recognisable: a perfect amalgam of dirty body-moving beats, eloquent melodies and haunting harmonies. All topped off with Tuomas high quality production qualities. A strong influence of Detroit techno and Chicago house can be heard through the whole catalogue of tracks, serving as foundation of fresh dirt, from where new things are born.
Tuomas has also collaborated with his long time friend and electronic artiste extraordinaire JORI HULKKONEN on numerous projects. Together they have released music on a wide range of labels, such as GET PHYSICAL MUSIC, REKIDS and the legendary SÄHKÖ sublabel KEYS OF LIFE. While working together, these two guys tend to push the boundaries, and buttons. The repertoire ranges all the way from afrobeat to creepy futufolk, all while making stops at ethnoid techno and finnish schlager.
The Canadian electronic empire TURBO has signed Tuomas on some hot Phonogenic action, coming to you in 2009. The results are more driving big room oriented techno tracks, that have already proven to be lethal. Stay alert!
If youre lucky, you can catch Tuomas DJing at your local joint, or even playing a live set that consists of the latest productions as well as the older catalogue tracks updated to make you move on two thousand and nine.
