Club STANDARD is a drum and bass club hosted by L.A.O.S. collective. STANDARD is held bi-monthly in the Mecca of bassheads: club redrum. The opening night presents one of todays and tomorrows most interesting artist: Brookes Brothers (Breakbeat Kaos, UK) !!! Brookes brothers are behind last years most praised releases like Tear you down, F Zero, J-majik´s Grazy World remix . They are big and they will be even bigger. This is a must check for the musical drum and bass lovers as well as bassline bouncers.
And if that just wasn´t enough we decided to make this a night to remember when mc Deeizm (Human Elements / Liquid V, UK) brings her stunning vocal talents to fulfill the musical experience. She performed at STANDARD last year with Makoto and people have been demanding her back, so here she is!
The Brookes Brothers have emerged as one of the major breakthrough drum&bass artists of recent years. Raised in London, the two brothers discovered a love for the more soulful sounds of drum&bass around the turn of the millennium. They have a string of releases under their belt from top-notch labels like: Breakbeat Kaos, Viper, Frequency, Critical just to name a few.
2008 has seen the brothers catapulted even further up the ladder with a string of massive releases. Earlier in the year saw their remix of J Majik & Wickamans Crazy World picked up by Ministry Of Sounds Data imprint, pricking up the ears of the Radio 1 bods so much so it gained them daytime radio play as well as huge support yet again from the likes of Zane Lowe, Annie Mac and beyond. Then onto Tear You Down on BBK, the track that has recently seen them B-listed on Radio 1 with even Sarah Cox giving it Record Of The Week status. Quite some feat for drum & bass, proving you can retain popularity in the underground of the scene and appeal to the mainstream at the same time. Good music is good music and these guys are dripping in the stuff.
With residencies at clubs such as Fabric and an ever-increasing amount of DJ sets around the globe, the debut album slated for Summer of 2009 on Breakbeat Kaos, remixes of the Chemical Brothers Star Guitar and BPAs Seattle on Southern Fried, 2009 is shaping up to be the year of the Brookes Brothers. You have been warned!
Shelley a.k.a Deeizm writes, sings raps & produces and has multi tasked her way to the top of her game as an international performing artist.
Starting out at The Soul Experience Vocal Academy at 16, Deeizm trained with a gospel choir and teacher until she landed her first record deal just a year later. Her debut was co-written with Ray Hayden (who has also collaborated with Marvin Gaye, Sade, Mary J Blige & Omar), and was released in the UK & Japan on JVC in 1998.
During the last two years, Deeizm has collaborated with Craggz and Parallel Forces Live for their album Northern Soul on Valve Recordings, which was heavily supported by BBC 1Xtra following the bands live debut on the station, plus another session at Maida Vale studios which saw support from the likes of Jo Whiley and Annie Mac.
Now the vocalist of choice for many DJs and Producers working in the deeper, soulful side of drum&bass, Deeizm's burgeoning reputation continues to grow with shows around the globe alongside Makoto.
