Sergey Suokas is a musician, designer, dj and producer from Russia. Sergey has a quite wide range of subjective predilections, but on a whole in the creation he orientates on minimal techno or abstract electronic sound. Music he writes under the different aliases is distinctive, atmospheric and minimalistic.
Sergey was born in 1986 in rock-musicians family. At the age of 9 he showed interest in music when he was carried away on fathers synth and drum machine. He learned playing drums at 13 and took part in some post-rock bands.
Sergey tried himself in electronic music when he was 14 after buying his first computer. He made intricate collages relating to ambient, abstract glitch, idm and electroacoustic. Warp records and german electronic scene (Oval, FS Blumm, Jan Werner, Felix Randomiz) were the main influences to his early creation. His works wasnt unnoticed and he made his debut with a track "Poll" on "PlugnPlay" compilaton released on russian label Cheburec.
As well as creating abstract music Sergey started producing techno. He played first time in 2005 in Moscow with his techno project Suokas and after 2 years being a part of Nervmusic community he started to perform minimal techno live PAs around Russia. His first CD "Live Act @ Solyanka" (Algorythmik) was released in 2007 and his first solo "Muna EP" was released on Multivitamins in 2008.
Hot Artic is the one of Sergeys techno projects. It has more melodic sound being at the interfaces between tech house and deep techno. "Hot Arctic EP" was released on the digital label Eklero in 2007.
While producing minimal techno Sergey doesnt leave his alternative ambient project Slow (aka Sergey Suokas) which tracks were released on some compilations. His last album "Balance" (Hyperboloid) is a thoughtful and minimalistic electronica with his typical deep sound. The digital release "Lonely Man" (How2Make) is also planned on the beginning of 2008 and consists of Sergeys early works.
