Since having his first proper taste of DJing and House music over 13 years ago, Derry born Stephen Porter has gone on to become one of the most talked about acts currently breaking through from the Irish clubbing scene and onto the international scene. Admirers include James Holden, Paolo Mojo, Ricky Ryan and Desyn Masiello, all of whom have gone on record to acknowledge Stephen's talent as a DJ. At the grand old age of 26 his name has been making people take notice of him as both a well respected experienced DJ and as an ever improving producer.
In December 2000 Stephens own club night Inertia was launched with Pablo Gargano headlining the first event. Since then Stephen has continued to invite some of the world's finest new talent to his native Derry. Inertia was the first club night in Ireland to book the likes of Paolo Mojo, James Holden, and Jonathan Lisle.
Stephen has performed in many different countries including Sweden, Holland, Spain, South Africa, Estonia, England and Poland and has supported countless international DJ names such as, James Holden, Futureshock, Kasey Taylor, Slacker, Anthony Pappa, Cass, Funk D'Void, Paolo Mojo, Sneak , Parham, Craig Richards, Chris Fortier , Desyn Masiello, Paul Woolford, Tom Stephan, Can Costa and Col Hamilton to name just a handful!
As comfortable in the studio as behind the decks, Stephen has produced alongside Conor Mason as "Poison Dwarf" with releases on Noctambula Records and Morrison Recordings. Support has come from the unlikely source of Paul Van Dyk and Jonathan Lisle. At present Stephen has hooked up with Dave Karran (formerly of Switchkraft) and the pair have been churning out track after track as "Karran & Porter". Their first two EP's already being signed to Mokilok Records and Pissed Off Recordings. Support has come from the likes of Ricky Ryan, Sayan Soboth, Paolo Mojo and Hernan Cattaneo!
Stephen Porters sound covers a wide area and can be described as music for the mind and body, encompassing everything from down tempo spaced-out broken-beats through to breakbeat, to deep groovy house, to trippy tech progressive house and even a dash of techno!
Stephen's open minded musical attitude and friendly persona has continued to keep his name firmly on the lips of most right thinking promoters and the dance world is starting to take notice of the young Irish talent. With international appearances in Mexico, Switzerland, Portugal, Greece and Serbia on the cards, as well as his debut at the club where he learned the ropes LUSH!, it's clear as Yazz once said "the only way is up"!
Akis passion towards electronic music was kick-started before he even began his education at school with artists like Jean Michael Jarre, Brian Eno, Vangelis and other local inspirations filling his musical orientated mind with ideas. Akis maturity in music came throughout the late 90s with more commercial influences. However, his true captivation of the dance music scene arrived after hearing some epic trance compilations from legend Paul Oakenfold and unfolding superstar Tiësto! Push led to shove and the desire to spin in clubs became evermore important. Aki landed gigs at Turkus Klubi, Sokeri and Barbi nighteries and in 2005 he proved his worth as a developing DJ by landing 4th place as 'Best Upcoming DJ' at the Finnish Club Awards. Later that year Aki joined the star studded lineup at Finland's annual Laserpoint event. His abilities have also been recently reinforced, where in summer 2006 Aki was booked to play at Konemetsä, the open-air electronic music festival! As a developing DJ, Akis style doesnt just focus on only the latest anthems! When this talent is behind the decks, prepare for an epic journey of forgotton classics merged with recent works of musical masterpiece!
