STORY OF MOONLOOP:
He started dj:ing in 1993 with hardtrance, hardcore and gabber.
Early favourites where tunes like Union Jack's Two Full Moons and a Trout
and Tracks Beyond Subconsiciousness's Hot Trigger.
Little by little he started to move into more sophisticated beats. He
supported rough techno beats like Adam Beyer, Marco Carola and
Surgeon. House kicked in also when he heard tunes like Thomas
Bangalter's version of Roy Davis Jr's Rock Shock and tunes from Ian Pooley.
When moving to the 21st century, he added trance and progressive beats
to his box. A few of his favourite artists and producers past a few last years have been
Luke Chable, John Graham, Grayarea, Shiloh, Hybrid, Lemon 8, Way Out West, Leama & Moor,
Matthew Dekay and Sasha.
Until today, he has kept dj:ing as a dear hobby. Trough dj:ing he has
been able to express his love for electronic dance music. This way his has
also been able to keep his playing fresh and his spirit for dj:ing very high.
He's motto is " If tune is good or exceptional, it really does not matter
what the music style is. Your obligation as a dj is to bring it to the crowd.
So, concentrating on just one music style has never been very smart.
Music and scene are constantly changing so sticking on same music style
really puts you behind from the development."
Dj Moonloop has never been a dj who mixes tunes all the time from the
end, where the obvious mixing spot is. His mixing style is based on finding
creative spots where two songs are cleverly matched.
"The idea is to keep up the feeling of the mix up so everybody in the
dance floor are enjoying themselves. Specially when you make a set for
radio or home use, like mixed sets usually are, must the mixes were rather quick
and tunes must be selected that thing in mind. I have never
understood mixes which have sometimes just one or to decent tunes and
the rest just filling of the mix basically. Who would want to listen an
hour of music for just one hook? I don't support mixing hit after hit but
you need to have certain songs order to make it interesting."
"Early Elliot Ness mixtapes were a big inspiration when I started to create
my own style to mix. Specially I admired how he managed to mix two
very different tunes together seamesly. Of course when you're playing
long sets live at clubs, it's a different ball game. Then it's good to build up
your set."
