Club STANDARD brings you another night to remember at Rose Garden. This time we bring you the man behind big anthems, raise your hands in the air for Danny Byrd from Hospital records!!!
Danny Byrd(Hospital, V recordings, UK)
Biography
Hailing from Bath in the South West of England, Danny Byrd has been involved in the Drum & Bass music scene since the late 90's. Seen as a pioneer of soulful and vocal liquid funk, Danny had his first release on DJ Ron's Piccasso imprint back in 1998 with "Manhattan", quickly moving onto join up with the Hospital Records camp in the year 2000. It was with Hospital that he really made his mark with the singles "Do it Again" and "Changes", this was the start of a fresh new sound mixing D&B with soulful house, garage and R&B influences.
Later in the year he also skillfully remixed London Elektricty's "Wishing Well" for the Plastic Surgery 2 compilation. The remix again took d&b to new heights with Todd Edwards style vocal chopping and was a firm favorite with liquid funk don Fabio. Other notable remixes were for High Contrast's "Music is Everything" also on Hospital and Tungsten and Morph's "Expand your Mind" on the Sound in motion label.
Part of the new record deal allowed Danny to work with a select few top labels outside of Hospital, and in 2006 he worked with V Recordings with "French Quarter", Total Science's Advanced imprint for "Round & Round" and the Spearhead record label with "Rise Again"
Last year saw the byrd gain a reputation for a DJ to watch playing places as far as Los Angeles, Paris, Munich, Vienna and closer to home in London/UK at the Hospitality nights at Herbal & Heaven. Danny Byrd's debut LP is scheduled to drop early 2008, but before then you can look forward to "Under the Sea" on Weapons of Mass Creation 3 compilation which he has also used his DJ skills mixing the 2nd CD on the Album. Outside of producing and DJ'ing Danny also runs Music Production Seminars and online tuition in the UK helping budding music producers.
Wispy (Urjala, FI)
At just 20 years old guy from Urjala, Ville Penttinen: aka Wispy, has already made a real DJ name for himself within the Finnish Drum & Bass scene. Wispy began spinning records back in 2002 pushing the more House and Trance beats. However, he established his roots quickly after Drum & Bass captivated this young talent. For Wispy, there was no turning back. Over the following years his technical skills soared and proof was awarded by winning the 2006 Drum & Bass DJ competition arranged by the Tampere based organisation '33100'. With 2006 being a successful year, 2007 brought even more! Wispy worked his way to become a winner in Helsinki's now annual 'Laserpoint 2008 DJ Competition'.
And of course there is no STANDARD without it´s residents: L.A.O.S. djs abraham, d-bex and jayem.
L.A.O.S. (Raw Canvas, Hospital, Spearhead, FI)
L.A.O.S. is a collaboration of three oldschool beatheadz abraham , d-bex and JayEM. They have known each other for several years but not until 2002 they understood the obvious fact that they should join forces in music production. They share the same passion for music and their taste of music is expectionally identical.
L.A.O.S. has a bunch of releases lined up on labels like Hospital (UK), Raw Canvas (4hero remix) (UK), Spearhed (UK), Defunked (UK) and Midnight Sun Recordings (FI). Their tracks are getting dj support from names like London Elektricity, Zinc, Blu Mar Ten, Blame, Annie Mac (BBC Radio1), Kasra and Utah Jazz just to name a few. Their release Panda Style has gained worldwide recognition and future will tell will these boys be known for inventing endangered species step music genre. In 2007 they were asked to do a remix for 4hero of their track called Morning Child.
