As far as we are aware, this may be an ebay world first if not, certainly in the UK's Hard Dance Scene, which is the world's hub of underground hard dance music.
THE PRIZE:
Many live set recordings of hundreds of DJs are available on ebay. But this week, we are auctioning the opportunity to have the WORLD'S VOTED No1. HARD DANCE DJ for the past two years running ('04,'05) from Helsinki, Finland - DJ PROTEUS - play a live DJ set for the winning bidder at the venue and for the audience of their choice on Friday night 20th October. DJ PROTEUS is also bringing along two quality support DJs to add vibe to your private party.
Even though DJ PROTEUS is recognised the world over for his amazing performances, he also happens to be one of the most globally popular DJs on the Hard Dance Scene due simply to his 'gentle giant' nature and his ability to make every person he speaks to feel as they are the only person in the world during any conversation with him. He loves his vodka, he loves to party, and he loves to be able to give back to his massive fan base any time that he can. Two examples of his caring attitude have included going to visit a fan at home who had been released from prison and was not yet able to come to a gig because of tagging, as well as visiting a fan in hospital who was gutted to miss a gig because they were poorly
This auction is open to any private booking - house party, birthday, lock in at your local pub, boat show, village hall, or outdoor gathering that may like to spend a party night up close and personal with this charming Prince of Fetish.
The apparently sleepy city of Adelaide, South Australia is home to the majority of the best hard dance producers Down Under. GRADY G is one of those names who has vastly contributed to keeping Adelaide in the spotlight in regards to quality exported tunes, having had numerous UK releases over the past two years, with more than half dozen more to be released on various UK labels in the very near future.
GRADY G will be at the beginning of his debut UK tour on October 20th, a tour which has stirred much interest from punters and promoters alike all across the UK. He will also play for the winning bidder, showcasing his tunes and getting acquainted with the select few who are fortunate enough to be associated with the winning bidder of this fantastic & original concept.
STEVE MILTON, better known as NOMI SUNRIDER to the regulars of WWW.HARDERFASTER.NET is a well known and much loved local of this most respected and extensive UK clubbing website.
Putting aside his reviewing and features writing, he's recently taken his DJ antics outside of house parties and into clubs around London, receiving much support from the Harder Faster community and beyond. Steve has been a good friend to PROTEUS over the past couple of years and for this reason it was our request that he join us on this quirky little DJ adventure, which will then be featured and reviewed on HARDER FASTER after the event. If this incredulous idea turns out to be a complete disaster, it will still be featured simply because many of us will be very excited to hear about the outcome, regardless of how it goes
To complete the package, our DJ trio will bring their own entourage to join in the fun. Kym Newman of QUEEN OF CLUBS ARTIST & DJ MANAGEMENT (home to the mighty Lab4 Live, Proteus, The *Ting*, Grady G & Sterling Moss) will be there with her boys, as will Ali and Lewy from the FRAGILE ONLINE RECORD STORE and a few select others that may want to tag along with us (LAB4 happen to have that night off, so who knows who else may turn up for the fun) - everyone's up for a big night out, so remember to invite the neighbours!
CONDITIONS & TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. This auction can only be available to bidders living in England and Wales due to travel and timing.
2. All that we ask is that the winning bidder be responsible enough to be able to organise the required equipment, and take into consideration things such as realistic travel time, and venue availability and suitability. This is a 10 day auction so serious bidders will need to be considering all these details as they are actually bidding. The winning bidder will have only 5 days to have everything in place before we turn up on your doorstep!!
3. The winning bidder MUST PAY WITHIN 24 HOURS of the auction ending. We need to know from our end that all details have been taken care of, including payment so that as a group we can relax and know our exact travel plans at least a few days in advance of the 20th.
4. Whilst we have no minimum starting bid, we do have to have a reserve - this reserve will only be enough to cover only PART PAYMENT of DJ PROTEUS's international ticket, plus £50 fuel money to cover driving expenses. The RESERVE IS AS LOW AS WE CAN POSSIBLY MAKE IT - please be assured that this is not a scam (our reputations are at stake here), and once the reserve price is met it will indeed be a very pleasant surprise to realise that we are of our word J
5. Any person or group of people bidding on this prize bids on the condition that all necessary DJ equipment (including the sound system) will be complete and in good working order for all three DJs to be able to do their job properly. The technical list additional to the sound system must include the following industry standard equipment:
2 x Technics decks
2 x Pioneer CDJ 1000
1 x Pioneer 600 mixer
at least 1 x (preferably 2) monitor speakers
(If you are serious about bidding, but these particular brands of equipment seem problematic, just email us PREVIOUS TO BIDDING and we will be happy to work as best we can to accommodate - as long as lines of communication are kept open at all times. We would rather have too many questions just to ensure that everything can work out for the best possible chance of one of the most memorable nights of 2006).
PLEASE NOTE - The artists are not obliged to perform if the equipment is not as requested, or of good enough working order, deeming it difficult for them to perform. In the event of this happening our artists and party people will be obliged to stay for at least the duration of all three set lengths (approx 4hrs).
6. DJ PROTEUS arrives at Heathrow Airport at 7.30pm that evening. Therefore, it is the responsibility of the winning bidder to ensure that the venue they intend to use will allow the party to continue late into the night. Taking car travel into consideration, we imagine that PROTEUS would not be able to arrive before midnight (unless of course the winning bidder lives closer to Heathrow).
(Again, if you are serious about bidding but are at all unsure about driving times between Heathrow and your venue of choice, please email us and we will let you know if we are realistically able to deliver what we promise. Too many questions are better than not enough!!)
7. In the event of the reserve price being doubled during bidding, then 10% of the winning bid will be automatically and securely donated to a worthwhile cause which has touched many of us of recent times Our charity of choice is AUSTRALIA ZOO in Brisbane - home to the late and loved CROCODILE HUNTER, STEVE IRWIN - who has single handedly raised global awareness of the importance of protecting our planet and our wildlife, and our appreciation and respect of some of the World's most dangerous and fascinating animals.
Many of you may not be aware, but STEVE IRWIN was not a cash rich man - he actually has spent every profit of his famed career in buying up huge sections of sacred land around Australia to ensure that they become nature reserves for breeding programmes of endangered species almost lost due to clearing and developing projects. He did this so that the land may remain sacred and that the animals within that environment remain protected and have the chance to survive so that our future generations may also be able to enjoy the wonder of nature and its occupants that are powerless in protecting themselves.
Sadly, it is highly likely that STEVE IRWIN'S estate will have to sell off parts of this land he acquired over the years in order to keep AUSTRALIA ZOO running as proficiently as it has been now that the legend has passed on. We want to contribute to ensuring that this does not have to happen - for the sake of the endangered breeding programmes and for the sake of one man's dream to change world views on our planet - which he was doing a fantastic job of before he was tragically taken in September. Please note that we are unable to donate this through PayPal as UK charities are the only option - however we assure you that these funds will most ceratinly be donated.
