After their first release, the fantastic Finity Essence, Finnish based label Finity Recordings have put out their next release. It's Syna - Face Of God and is the first track to appear on Finity Digital...
To brush up on Finity, they're a young trance label based in Finland who are devoted to promoting only the finest trance that Finnish producers have to offer. They made a solid demonstration of this promise in Finity Essence, reviewed here.
The first in their digital line is 'Face Of God' by Syna. The Syna project is Timo Juuti, Toni Kurkimäki and Mika Vuorela. They strive to combines trance with melodic, progressive sounds and breakbeats. The boys have already remixed Orkidea's single "Beautiful", which has been released on the UK based Sential label.
Now, onto the track itself. It begins beautifully - deep ambience coupled with some endearing piano work and eerie synth notes now and again. Deep and atmospheric, this is a powerful way to kick of a track. When the beat kicks in, it's not the normal trance beat most would be expecting, but an easy going breakbeat. Blended in with the trancey surroundings, this breakbeat rhythm easily makes it just as any decent trance would. We see various elements taking their turn to put their own melodic influences into the track, mainly the piano, the eerie high pitched synths and the female choir sounding synths. The breakdown doesn't break the flow of the track at all, it enhances it with really nice change sin the bass and backing synths at all the perfect moments. As things progress even further, even more sublime elements are thrown into the mix, things like a new chord progression and a few subtle electric guitair riffs. This track is so fresh and is a wonderful break from the norm.
Conclusion:
What an awesome start for Finity Digital! Everything about this release is beautiful. All the sounds and instruments sound fantastic and the calm, melodic elements are to die for. This track has a true musical depth to it that is often missing from a lot of trance and indeed dance music these days, so thank you, Syna!
