Brookes Brothers bio
The Brookes Brothers have emerged as one of the major breakthrough drum&bass artists of recent years. Raised in London, the two brothers discovered a love for the more soulful sounds of drum&bass around the turn of the millennium. It didn’t take long for the production bug to bite and they started to create their own tunes in early 2002. Hardwood and many hours of dedication led to quite a few years spent locked away in various different studios until they had perfected their trade.

Fast forward four years and 2006 saw the Brookes Brothers notch up an impressive catalogue of releases in a relatively short period of time. The brothers’ debut 12” ‘Portal’/’Desert Island’ came out on Danny Wheeler's W10 imprint to immediate acclaim from some of the scene's biggest names, setting the boys on their road to success. This was followed by ‘Verano’ released on Frequency Recordings (Andy C’s sister label to Ram Records) which was a collaboration with long time friend Subfocus, and consequently became one of the biggest tunes of 2006. The end of that year saw the Brookes Brothers assault the market with a number of tunes including the massive ‘Someone’/’Promise’ on Futurebound’s Viper Recordings and their highly rated remix of ‘Pain’ by SKC + Bratwa for Critical Records. As a result of their hard work, in 2007 the Brookes Brothers were exclusively signed to Fresh and Adam F’s Breakbeat Kaos imprint. Their first release on BBK was the huge ‘Hard Knocks’/’Mistakes’, which received major radio support from the likes of Zane Lowe, Pete Tong and the Trophy Twins, as well as the heavyweight drum& bass DJs such as Andy C, Grooverider and Adam F. Next up they collaborated with another rising star, Culture Shock, together creating the monster track ‘Rework’, arguably one of the biggest tracks of 2007!

2008 has seen the brothers catapulted even further up the ladder with a string of massive releases. Earlier in the year saw their remix of J Majik & Wickaman’s ‘Crazy World’ picked up by Ministry Of Sound’s Data imprint, pricking up the ears of the Radio 1 bods so much so it gained them daytime radio play as well as huge support yet again from the likes of Zane Lowe, Annie Mac and beyond. Then onto ‘Tear You Down’ on BBK, the track that has recently seen them B-listed on Radio 1 with even Sarah Cox giving it ‘Record Of The Week’ status. Quite some feat for drum & bass, proving you can retain popularity in the underground of the scene and appeal to the mainstream at the same time. Good music is good music and these guys are dripping in the stuff.

With residencies at clubs such as Fabric and an ever-increasing amount of DJ sets around the globe, the debut album slated for Summer of next year on Breakbeat Kaos, remixes of the Chemical Brother’s ‘Star Guitar’ and BPA’s ‘Seattle’ on Southern Fried, 2009 is shaping up to be the year of the Brookes Brothers. You have been warned!
