--- SIMON EVE (Tidy, Recharge - UK)
Introduction
Hard dance and trance DJ / Producer Simon Eve is without doubt one of the busiest men in dance music and a familiar and popular name to clubbers and the music industry the world over. His DJing has taken him from UK clubs to 90,000 people at Dance Valley festival in Holland, plus numerous tours of Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Japan and beyond.
As a producer, Simon's studio productions and remixes are released on leading labels such as Vicious Circle, Dataless, Recover, Tinrib and Tripoli Trax, gracing the decks of DJs as diverse as Lisa Lashes, Judge Jules and Above & Beyond, also finding their way onto numerous best selling compilation CDs such as Euphoria, Tidy Weekender and Hard House Anthems. Simon is also A&R and owner of the leading hard dance label Recharge, head of Tidy Management looking after 10 top DJ / producers, as well as writing fortnightly for DJ Magazine.
Clearly a man with his finger on the pulse of all things good in hard dance and trance today, Simon's tireless work at the forefront of the dance scene ensures he has upfront CD-Rs and Test Presses in his record box from leading producers from around the globe every weekend, guaranteeing his unique, cutting edge sound that's in demand from the public and virtually untouchable by other DJs until months later!
Background
Simon Eve's unique blend of chunky house and harder edged trance secured him a string of high profile residencies in London from 1999, including Pete Wardman's Sherbet, Freedom at Bagleys Film Studios, Trinity at the Chunnel Club, Wildlife at Heaven and the Tinrib night Superfish, enabling Simon to DJ alongside names as diverse as Carl Cox, Tony De Vit, Scott Bond and John '00' Fleming.
His London DJing reputation alone saw Simon spread his wings to DJ at leading underground nights around the UK such as Insomniacz, Storm, Sundissential and Paradise Factory, and moving into 2000, Simon finally made his mark in dance music production in a big way, compiling and mixing the best selling 3xCD release '21st Century Hard House' on React, launching the hugely popular Recharge label, and also penning his first vinyl release, 'Hip House' on Tinrib Recordings.
In the years that followed, Simon has built on these foundations to cement himself as a major player at the forefront of the hard dance and trance scenes. He's become a writer for DJ Magazine, covering the hard dance and trance reviews every issue, and was also A&R and label manager, first at Eve Records and Recover, and later moving onto the same position at React Music. Subsequent compilation CDs mixed by Simon included '21st Century Hard House 2', 'Recoverworld Live' and a M8 Magazine cover CD, while in the studio he's released 40 tracks and remixes on various labels in the past five years.
Needless to say that Simon's DJing schedule grew in size along with his stature in the dance scene, with memorable gigs including Sundissential, Insomniacz, Frantic, Ministry Of Sound, Dance Academy, Nuklear Puppy around the UK, plus several appearances at the Dance Valley and Impulz festivals in Holland and tours of Ireland, Ibiza, Finland, Germany, Australia, South Africa and Japan.
Current
Production wise, Simon remains as busy as ever in the studio. Recent single smashes 'Out There' (played four weeks in a row on Dave Pearce's Dance Anthems show on BBC Radio 1), 'Timeline' and 'Demons', plus high profile remixes for the likes of K90, Paul Glazby and DJ Misjah & Tim's classic 'Access', are set to be followed in the months ahead with a remix of Captain Tinrib's 'Ride Me Baby' and new double A side solo release 'Devotion' and 'Psychout' on Recharge in February and March, plus a new collaboration project with Scott Mac due for completion soon as well.
While Simon's weekday focus has changed from full time label management into artist management in the past 12 months, running Tidy Management at Most Wanted and the DJ diaries of the likes of the Tidy Boys, Lisa Pin-Up, Rob Tissera and Paul Glazby, Simon still runs his Recharge label which is now well past it's 30th release and with a special compilation CD released for Russia in early 2006, and plans for a similar UK project later in the year.
Simon's steady flow of well received production work, not to mention his roof-raising DJ sets, have enabled him to carve out two niches with his DJing, performing at virtually every leading hard dance event on the one hand, and also selected trance events with his tech trance sets, with recent notable dates in addition to the regular events above including Vicious Circle, Slinky, Polysexual, Hard South, Antiworld and Twisted, and overseas tour highlights of late his first visit to Russia, the Enchanted and Adventjah festivals in Australia, plus club dates in Ireland, South Africa, New Zealand and Japan. Truly a global ambassador for hard dance and trance!
