LASERPOINT & GATECRASHER

Klubitus.jpg

United as One.

From outside,
you can hear the bass
echoing through the building
as you make your way
towards the entrance.
Checking your coat in,
you enter the massive main arena
where thousands are dancing and screaming,
the dj pounds you with hypnotic beats,
the massive lasers pierce the air
amongst the smoke
to form a solid wall of light in the air.
A passing thought in your head
reminds you
moments in life
don't get much better than this...

10TH ANNUAL LASERBEAM EXTRAVAGANZA

"Our aim is not to be the biggest Festival in town, no.
Our noble goal is to be the best and the most beautiful
electronic dance music event in Finland for the year 2007.
"
-Laserpoint crew

From humble beginnings, Laserpoint has risen to massive
proportions during it's 10 year long history in the electronic
dance music scene. Known for it's state-of-the-art lights
and sound systems, Laserpoint has become a high quality
event that pleases both your eyes and ears. Carefully planned
and executed, it offers stage shows, decorations and top of the
line djs and live acts to maximize your experience and nurture
your senses. Several arenas and music styles make sure there is
always some fantastic track on the decks that'll keep you moving
whether you want to hear your favorite kind of music, or are
looking for some new music style to fall in love with.

As Gatecrasher's MD Simon Raine once has said about the most
important Gatecrasher event so far, "ten years of promoting
parties, ten years of production knowledge and ten years
contacts all put into one very special night.
"

That is what Laserpoint 2007 really is about.

BIOGRAPHIES

PROTEUS LIVE (www.djproteus.com)
featuring
Adam LAB4 in drums
Henri Sickboy (Relic) in synth
Toni Haaksiluoto (Relic) in guitar

Second time ever, exclusively for the Laserpoint
10th anniversary. This live act's hard and energetic
electronic beats are heavily influenced by industrial
metal, with a veil of gothic darkness on top.
Proteus LIVE is not one to be pigeonholed, considering
their hugely varying musical repertoire that you just
have to see and hear yourself. In Laserpoint 2006,
the performance was outrageous, unbelieveable, massive
and glorious. It really was The 'hands up in the air' set.
Such intense amounts of energy and enthusiasm had not
been seen on stage before.

In Laserpoint 2007, the band's show will take a step
to the next level. It will be historical, it will be
unique, it will be sheer madness. Enough words,
you have to witness it yourself.

DJ ORKIDEA (www.djorkidea.com)

It’s been amazing fifteen years for DJ Orkidea since
he started in Finnish illegal rave scene. DJ'ing for
Jean-Paul Galtier in Berlin, warming up the Chemical
Brothers for 10 000 people, getting signed to DJ
Tiësto’s record label, entertaining the rich & famous
in Hong Kong and performing at Pacha and Tresor while
traveling the world - in 20 countries so far. His
music has been supported by Pete Tong, Sasha &
Paul van Dyk while labels like Anjunabeats,
Hooj Choons, artists like Way Out West and Solar Stone
have been asking for his remix treatment. Being voted
Scandinavia’s n:o #1 DJ, included in DJ Mag’s Top 200
and his Unity events selling out in 20 minutes are just
part of the story that still goes on...

DJ TAB & SUPER8 (www.super8andtab.com)

Super8 & Tab are the antidote to anyone who says
"trance is gone". By combining dark and driving progressive
elements with more traditional melodic trance sounds, the
pair have created an unique sound that has had the world's
A-list DJ's playing their music. Their killer tune "Helsinki
Schorchin'" has been The Trance Anthem worldwide for a while.
However, it's not an everyday phenomenon that artists get a
crowd of more than 1 000 people singing along to an
instrumental song, but the smash hit of Tab&Super8 has done
it several times. Also the follow-up tune "Won't sleep tonight"
is likely to be even better.

This dynamic duo that probably is among the most friendliest
ones in the world, definately knows what the audience is
waiting for.

THE THRILLSEEKERS (www.thethrillseekers.co.uk)

Steve Helstrip has been at the very forefront of the world's
dance scene for over 6 years now. From his breakout hit
'Synaesthesia', through to the anthems 'Dreaming of You'
and most recently 'By Your Side', he has continued to produce
a powerhouse of the most emotive, evocative music going.
Steve's remix career started pretty much the same day as
"Synaesthesia" was promoed. Since then he has revamped,
remapped and reshaped in excess of thirty other artist's
tracks. From Sonique to Sholan, from Tiësto to Timo Maas
and from Chicane to Cequenza, he has lent them all his
awesomely melodic, electronic touch. Steve has captivated
crowds the world over with both his Thrillseekers
Live and DJ sets. The Ministry, Gallery, PaSSion and
Godskitchen have all witnessed his fluid mixing, unique
style and kinetic, energetic performances. It's these sets
that saw him hit the DJ Magazine's ‘Top 100 DJ's’ chart for
the first time in 2004 and more recently break the top 50,
coming in at no. 45, in Oct 2006.

SOLARSTONE (www.solarstone.org.uk)

Some say "Solar Stone", some say "Solarstone".
Also record and produce under many aliases, like Young Parisians
or Liquid State. Either way, the sound is absolutely amazing.
Rich Mowatt is one of the most prolific producers in dance music
history, having had a string of hits as in under a variety of
aliases. Although they have enjoyed successes across a range
of genre’s including Breaks, Prog & Chill Out their real passion
lies in the music that Solarstone are known for – Quality Trance.
Without wanting to pigeon hole themselves to one specific style
within the music, Rich effortlessly builds his sets, sliding
from deeper more progressive affairs through to the pumping,
peak time, pure trance. Since it’s conception over a decade ago,
Solarstone have been responsible for some of the most innovative
and forward thinking tracks ever to come out of the genre from
the blissful guitar riffs of “Seven Cities” to the soaring synths
of “3rd Earth” & the chugging grooves of “Release” Solarstone
always seem to come up with something completely original that
never fails to make a huge impact.

MATT HARDWICK (www.matthardwick.com)

Matt’s illustrious association with the global phenomenon
that is Gatecrasher is something which has been well
documented. Such association would be seen by many as an
accomplishment in it’s own right. It has seen Matt to play
some of the greatest events the world of clubbing has to offer.
Whether it be playing at the sell-out Don Valley stadium gig
in front of 28,000 people on New Years Eve 2000 or playing
to 15,000 people at the amazing Gatecrasher NEC events.
Matt has seen it all, but still has quite a lot to offer.
What comes to his special relationship with Finland, this
is the second time he plays for Laserpoint at the Cable factory.
But this time he will also bring the Gatecrasher phenomena with
him for the second time in this scale. Last time it was witnessed
by 4000 people, which still holds the position of the biggest
one-night electronic dance music party in Finland, ever. Shall
we break it or not?

D.N.A (www.denisvakulin.fi)

Denis Vakulin aka Dj D.N.A is one of the rising and most
promising talents in Finland's club scene at the moment.
Most of the clubbers in Helsinki area have been influenced
by his enormous workload behind the scenes for events held
in Helsinki and around the country. Along with his hard
work background, he's been developing his DJ skills all
the way, and it seems to have paid off with a growing
amount of gigs in his schedule. He certainly has raised
his profile to the level of the top DJ's in Finland. His
list of past gigs consists mostly the major clubs and
parties in Finland, such as Hallmark, Labyrinth, Illusions,
Pacifique and not to forget the Club Laserpoint. Always a
performer, his taste in music is known to please the crowd
from morning raves to more mainstream club nights.
Combining styles from progressive to melodic, uplifting
trance, he turns any set into a perfect blend of quality
tunes, never forgetting to tease the audience with a
handful of classics.

PRODUCTION

TAKING CARE OF THE LIGHT & VISUAL DESIGN

“This year's design? Well, you could say that
“once there was a Gate but someone Crashed it -
pretty badly
” says Laserpoint's light and spatial
designer Matti Jykylä and chuckles. “It will look
somewhat trippy and weird. It’s an unsymmetrical setup,
at least the stage part of it and thru that we have
tried to make this one an unique and memorable one.
Lots of lasers and projection surfaces for the VJs
added compared to the last year's setup. Should be cool.
"

Once the wonderkid of the Finnish light design
industry, Matti started professional work as a
stagehand at a tender age of thirteen. By his
twenties he was already creating the designs for
main stages for various festivals. Specialized
in club lighting as well as contemporary arts
such as dance and installations, his career has
been just as unique his style is – a blend of strong
images, huge dynamics and asskickin’ timing.

Screen, Koneisto, Konemetsä, Laserpoint, Miau!,
Unity, Taika, Pussy, Renaissance Helsinki…
Matti has featured probably every major club or
event in the Finnish electronic dance music scene
during the past decade. He has worked alongside
such artists as Aphex Twin, Astral Projection,
Carl Cox, Adam Freeland, Boy George, Moloko, The Orb,
Tiësto, LAB-4, Way Out West, Sander Kleinenberg
and dozens and dozens of others big names.

“Space is the place” says Matti and continues:
“You could say that everything happens in a
relationship to the space, music and people. Our work
is somewhere between those elements, trying to tie it
all together and at times blasting it all over the place.
”

THE SOUND SYSTEM

In the year 2006, we were not fully pleased with
the sound system of the main stage. In the year 2007,
we will not make any compromises. It will be massive.
It's not about the loudness of the music but providing
the audience the best experience possible in terms of
sound quality. Rest of the rooms will be stacked with
powerful D&B sound systems, which will please your
hearing with a nice range of frequencies - but still,
with respect for your ears. Our intention is not to
make you deaf, but to make you feel comfortable under
the influence of a bass that is miles deep, and
soundscapes that are bright as a star.
