Orkidea has undoubtfully been one of Scandinavias top deejays for over 10 years, as hes been voted for the best dj several times in Finnish Club Awards and also Scandinavias Best Dj in danish Megamind voting.
His career started in the yearly years of 90s from illegal warehouse parties and after severals years of hard work the dirty warehouse has turned into mainstage of all the biggest events and clubs - not only in Finland, but also in several international destinations.
He is Renaissance Worldwide Helsinki resident and has played all around the world in Berlin (Tresor, WMF), Ibiza (Pacha), Denmark (Roskilde Festival), Tokyo (CODE), Toronto (Wintergalactic), Frankfurt (Nature One Festival), Amsterdam (Panama) and so on...
At these events Orkidea has played with such names as Paul van Dyk, Tiesto, Sven Vath, Jose Padilla and The Prodigy just to name a few.
In 1999 Orkidea released Unity 12 single on Steelfish Records UK. It was played by all the big names including Pete Tong and John Digweed and was played by both Sasha and Paul Oakenfold as opening track for their Essential Mix on BBC Radio 1. His next single Melancholy was released on DJ Tiestos Black Hole Recordings and we can expect some new releases during this spring and summer for Five AM and couple of more labels too. Orkidea has made remixes for legendary dance labels like Nettwerk (DJ Tiesto: Flight 643), Vandit (Aalto: Rush) and Hooj Choons (Space Manoeuvres: Stage One) and remixed some mainstream artists such as The Doors and Bomfunk MC's.
His work has been included on Renaissance, Gatecrasher and Ministry of Sound CD compilations. He released his debut solo album Taika on Universal Music in 2003 and it reached the finnish national Top 20 on the first week after the release. Orkidea also runs his own Unity Records with artists like Slusnik Luna, Beatpusher and Dallas Superstars and he has had his own monthly show in Finnish National Radio 1 since 1998. He has also written and produced score music for three films and various TV-ads.
Orkideas DJ sets are a mix of progressive house and trance, spiced with some breaks, techno and rare classic masterpieces, never lacking energy but always keeping the quality high.
