STEREOGAMUS ovat musiikillinen vastine Pride-festareille joka juhlii vuoden jokaisena päivänä. Australiasta kotoisin olevat Paul Mac ja Jonny Seymour ovat vuosien saatossa remiksanneet ja tehneet yhteistyötä mm.Kylie Minoguen, George Michaelin, JD Samson´s Men:n, Sam Sparron, The Presets:n ja LCD Soundsystemin kanssa, ja heidän viimeisimmän kappaleensa “Face Love Anew"feat. Shaun J. Wright (ex Hercules and Love Affair) kimppuun päästettiin Kim Ann Foxman, HorseMeatDisco sekä Discodromo, ja biisi onkin jo kerännyt huikeaa menestystä tanssilattioilla ympäri maailmaa. Kotimaassaan he ovat pitäneet residenssiä viimeiset 18 vuotta "Club Kookyssa" (Sydneyssä), sekä "Through Faggot Party" sekä "John" klubi-illoissa (Melbournessa). Miehet ovat soittaneet klubeilla ympäri maailmaa; Razzmatazz@Barcelona, Horse Meat Disco@Lontoo, The End up@San Francisco, esiintyneet festivaaleilla; Lovebox, Big Day Out, Vivid sekä edustaneet Gay Pride tapahtumissa; Folsom Street Fair@San Francisco, Sydney Mardi Gras, Madrid & NYC Pride.

STEREOGAMOUS INTERVIEW for STROKE:

-You´ve established yourselves well over the years on the scene playing around the world in places like San Fransisco, New York, Berlin and Barcelona, in huge events and festivals such as Lovebox and Mardi Gras Sydney. Could you please tell your fans in Helsinki 3 facts about STEREOGAMOUS, what can we expect on your show and what´s your favourite pickup line?

1. Paul studied piano at the Conservatorium of music and Jonny DJ'd in a towel at a gay sauna
2. Neither of us have had sex with a Finnish guy and we both hope to rectify this on Friday night.
3. It's more fun to be Stereogamous than it is to be monogamous.
We are 3 guys who love music sharing music that they love.
Favourite pick up line: "My face or yours?"

- Tell us a little bit about latest release “Face Love Anew feat.Shaun J Wright”. How was the creative process on that and is there going to be more of it?

We crashed a fashion launch in Barcelona and Jonny's bowtie charmed our way backstage at a Hercules and The Love Affair / Azari & III gig and we connected with Shaun. We started writing stuff by sending files to each other from Sydney to Chicago and "Face Love Anew" was born. Since then Shaun has become bi-continental and has flown to Sydney twice to perform at Mardi Gras and Kooky. There's more to come, we are in the middle of some beautiful beats as we speak. We'll be playing some new material for you on Friday night.

- How is Sydney in terms of creative atmosphere?

Sydney has an amazing Queer scene with party nights that occur sporadicly in random warehouses and clubs, but like most gay scenes, the mainstream is drowning in a sea of Rihanna. Some beautiful people though.

- You´ve been a resident at your Club Kooky nights for well over a decade. What´s the secret behind a such long running club night?

We just had our 18th birthday at the Sydney Opera House. The key is to be in love with music and the people who love music. It's important to remember that the most special guest at the club are the people on the dance floor.

- I´m a huge fan of Australian comedy. Kath&Kim, Summer Heights High, Dame Edna etc. What are you guys smoking to spill out such an outrage of characters?

Why thanks. I think it's because we are so isolated, and self deprecating, and we don't take things very seriously at all. Our comedy is the same.
(Secret fact: Paul did some music for Summer Heights High and did the score for last years Kath and Kimderella movie.

- Gay/queer scene around the world is getting more and more diverse, specified and categorized. Will there ever be a day when we all can just come together and celebrate regardless of gender, length of our beards, style of our shoes or the label on the shirt?

It's important to create spaces where we can come together to create our unity and our diversity.

- What does Tom Of Finland mean to you?

We are completely looking forward to meeting Tom and his friends when we get there. Everyone looks like that in Finland yeah?

- What 3 things come to your mind about Finland?

1. Tom of
2. Finland ranked one of the most peaceful countries in the world so it sounds like you are lovers, not fighters, and so are we.
3. The brown bear is the Finnish national animal, and Paul particularly likes brown bears, so that could work out quite well.
