TAKOMO

Biography

Takomo is the moniker of two young music enthusiasts from Finland, Pekka Kokkonen and Otto Hassinen. Originally drawing influences from dark drum'n'bass, Takomo has been moving fluently from drum'n'bass to techno and dubstep, and most notably nuskool breakbeat.

The two have released music on labels such as Botchit Breaks, Fusetrax and most recently, Trans:verse records but besides breakbeat scene, they've also worked on indie film scores, game music and soundtracks for digital art. A typical working pace for Takomo is slow, mainly due to the carefully detailed and welded soundscapes.

Besides working on their tunes, they've also got into dj'ing. They have hosted a show on award winning radio station, Breaks FM, and they've played shows inside and outside Finland as well. Their dj sets are as versatile as their production, moving fluently between different soundscapes of breakbeat to dubstep and electro, with a hint of techno, house and drum'n'bass here and there.

But the two are not the only people to play their tracks, as they have received dj support from the likes of Annie Nightingale, Tayo, Sunz of Mecha, Baobinga, Hoffman, LBJ, ElSid, Stormtrooperz, Influenza and Cereal Killaz.

DSTROY | RUMBLE !! |

In 1998, Joni Heikkilä aka Dj Dstroy began his journey & love affair with drum & bass music listening to the beats and sounds that emanated from the UK underground scene around that time. Citing his addiction to the music as the classic Virus Ed Rush & Optical tech monster “Wormhole”, the early dark twisted sounds Virus & Renegade Hardware provided the soundtrack to his submersion into dnb music and culture.

Whilst being a knowledgeable connoisseur of drum and bass, with an appreciation of tunes from across the wider spectrum of the music, Dstroy draws his dj set inspirations from his favorite artists which include the likes of Dieselboy, Andy C, Ed Rush& Optical, Prolix, Crystal Clear, Blokhe4d & Audio. His record bag on an average evening is filled with the latest, and some timeless classics from labels such as Ram, Viper, Human, Hospital & Playaz.

His djs style leans towards the more upfront and techy/dancefloor selection of the dnb genre, with dynamic fast mixing, utilizing his 9 years of technical experience behind the turntables with double drops and frivolous teases.

Not content with just playing the music, Dstroy has been actively spreading the vibe and promoting d&b in his city Lahti in Finland. Since 2008, hosting the very popular sessions RUMBLE!! he´s invited a wide variety of international guests & performers alongside well known national dj/producers whom he supports with equally as much vigor. Previous international guests have included Dj AMC (UK), STAPLETON MC (UK), L PLUS (SK), TEMPER D (UK), MC COPPA (UK), CRYSTAL CLEAR (UK) and many more…

2012 opens a new chapter in the Dstroy story, poised to make the transition himself to play across international borders… watch this space!

DJ/Producer Kris Kylven, with a strong history in bands like Killing Joke, Juno Reactor, UX, The 69 Eyes and many more has been flavouring their performances as a live drummer in the past. Kylven and Louhio also started to produce tracks together in 1999 as an industrial and ethno influenced trance project, the Faithealers.
