Asiru was given piano lessons at the age of six by the guy that composed the Finnish childrens hit Matkustan ympäri maailmaa, laukussa leipää ja piimää vaan, a fact that cannot be easily heard in the electronic pop music that Asiru has been doing ever since 1999.
Aside of his solo project, Asiru has been involved in various musical acts such as Pekka Ja Martti, a MIDI-jamming duo that accidentally came to light when their stuff was played at a big interior exposition a few years ago. He has also played in the ranks of Õnneratas, a well known Estonian jazz orchestra.
A multi-instrumentalist, Asiru aims on experimenting with different software, hardware, synthesizers and acoustic instruments, such as Turkish flutes and ukuleles.
Asiru sums it up:
Ive never been able to concentrate in one particular style of music. I just want to try and mess up and get inspired by whatever I hear and happen to like. That changes constantly. Probably thats why I havent felt comfortable performing music under one specific name. Reason why I’ve used at least 7 different pseudonyms during the last 9 years. But the name Asiru is what I started with. Although I dont remember what it means anymore.
