Takomo [trans:verse, sango music]

Takomo is a production unit for electronic dance music formed by Pekka Kokkonen and Otto Hassinen. The blokes also have a solid demoscene background as musicians for Matt Current.

They have been making electronic music together since the year 2002 and the results have been heard as soundtracks for video games and demos, as well as released on vinyl by several American and British dance music labels. Their music has also taken them to gigs in various European countries.

The music by Takomo could be described as dark science fiction breakbeat which draws influences from d&b, house and techno. Their dj sets mix the aforementioned genres, and being dark does not mean that you can't dance to it!

Byproduct LIVE [psy/breaks with c64/nes/game influences]

Juhana Honkanen got introduced to electronic music making somewhere in the 90s, when he got introduced to Fast Tracker II. He thought he was going to give the program just a quick try, but soon found it too interesting and fun to quit. In 2003, after gaining some experience, he moved on from trackers to sequencers and started spreading his tracks on the Internet under the name Byproduct. In 2005, he made his first live gig for the electronic music audience, and has since been performing in various events around Finland.

Not restrained by genre limits or strict expectations, Byproduct tracks can be anything from ambient to psytrance or breakbeats, but his style is consistent and original, and easily recognized by the old video game influences. He combines good old tracker sound, c64-emulators and computer game samples with new technology, creating progressive tracks with plenty of content and detail.

Nuance

Nuance started his foray into the exciting world of music in the tender age of 4. At that time the weapon of choice was a kit of drums, his older brother serving as the drill sergeant. Since then, music has been the main ingredient of his life. Before reaching the age of 10, and hearing the first breakbeat-fueled tracks from The Prodigy's Music For The Jilted Generation, the soundtrack of Timo's life was strongly guitar-driven.

Nuance found his way to producing his own music through the legendary Pro tracker software on an early nineties' Amiga 500 home computer. He wasted his time fiddling around with sample-based tracker software and lurking around the demoscene to his late teens. In the tide of the new millenium he developed an interest towards the rave culture.

The 16-year-old juvenile started honing his deejaying skills playing techno and progressive house. Some two years after that trackers stepped out of the way of more professional production software and equipment. His own works drifted inevitably towards broken beats and his record collection followed.

The aspiring new DJ played his first booked gig 5th january 2005, alongside Ana and Eme, his partners in crime. The night was a huge success and the following months saw a rapid increase in incoming gig offers. The Finnish club community awarded him with the title of "The Best New DJ Of 2005" for his first busy year in the business.

Nuance's musical repertoire consists mostly of aggressive drum'n'bass and he pays meticulous attention to technical excellence as well as lively performance.

Gr [Spinni]

Gr is a finnish dj originating from Kuopio, nowadays living in Tampere, who is playing various styles from psychedelic trance and techno. In spite of style the most describable things you hear in his dj-sets are rolling, groovy and melodic tunes. Earlier his preferred genre were rolling techno which later turned into uplifting trance. These genres have influenced a lot of the wibes of his psychedelic dj-sets which varies from melodic to really dark and crazy jungle sounds.

Apart from this gr is a really demoscene oriented person, and this has left its mark on his style. Therefore it shouldn't come as a surprise if you hear some scenetunes during his sets. Gr is also active in an organisation called Spinni whose task is to promote electronic music and culture; arranging dj-courses and underground parties.
